Description
This is a live recording from the Antibes Jazz Festival featuring Santana and Wayne Shorter’s co-led band. The original master was an FM broadcast, and there were unnatural gaps between tracks as if the DJ had been cut, but this has been corrected during remastering, resulting in a slightly brighter sound. The band features an impressive lineup of musicians, including organ virtuoso Chester Thompson, known for his work with Frank Zappa’s band; Alphonso Johnson, Shorter’s bandmate from their Weather Report days; and Leon Chancler, who delivered funky drumming in Miles Davis’s band. The spectacular guitar battle between guest Hiram Bullock and Santana is a must-listen.
