Description
At Paul McCartney’s initiative, a relief concert was held at the Hammersmith Odeon in London from December 26th to 29th, 1979, to raise funds for Cambodian refugee relief. The live performance was officially released as a double LP the following April, and as is well known, both the video and audio have been released in various forms since then. This title, however, features valuable outtakes and rough mixes that were not included in those releases, recorded entirely in master-quality soundboard format. In addition to renowned artists such as Wings, Queen, and The Who, the Pretenders, The Clash, and The Specials also gathered together, transcending the boundaries of so-called “old wave” and “new wave.” Here, Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” begins in its complete version, including call and response with the audience, and you can also hear Wings’ “I’ve Had Enough” and “Twenty Flight Rock” for the first time, which are definitely worth checking out. In addition to rare recordings of bands like The Clash and Ian Dury, this is a highly valuable documentary that provides a complete picture of the legendary four-day stage performance.
