Description
A rare recording has emerged of a Scottish concert in June 1984, shortly after the addition of new guitarist John Valentine Carruzas, captured in high-quality stereo audience recording! This rare recording captures a live performance held on June 17, 1984, at the Playhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland, the largest theater in Scotland with a capacity of 3059 people, shortly after John Valentine Carruzas joined the band as new guitarist, following Robert Smith’s departure and the release of the EP “THE THORN” in October 1984. The audio was digitally transferred from a low-generation master, resulting in a sound quality that is considered top-class for its time. The dynamic range is wide, and the vocals and each instrument are recorded with excellent balance and clarity. Furthermore, pitch deviations caused by the master have been carefully corrected. The show opens with “Dazzle,” featuring a long version of the string intro, and the setlist includes tracks from their album “Hyaena,” released shortly after the album’s launch, as well as “Red Over White” from their EP “THE THORN,” released in October of the same year. You can enjoy a powerful performance in high fidelity, where new guitarist John’s kaleidoscopic guitar playing, which is surprisingly sophisticated for someone who has just joined the band, blends seamlessly into the mix!
