This high-quality audience recording captures the August 5, 1990 Heerenveen concert from the Nude Tour. This performance is particularly interesting due to several changes in the setlist. First, in “The Future,” Tony M delivers his first-ever rap from “The Flow” on this tour. Then, after “Kiss,” there’s a bluesy guitar solo reminiscent of “Blues In C,” and in “Purple Rain,” there’s a long, intense guitar solo including a call-and-response from “Live 4 Love,” which is rarely heard. The total performance lasts approximately 10 minutes, a rare length for this tour. On the other hand, “Alphabet Street” is performed very briefly, lacking the usual raps from “Cat Rap” and “The Latest Fashion,” as well as the inclusion of “It Takes Two.” After singing “…and drive her to Tennessee,” it seems as though the song is ending, but then it starts again, with funky improvised phrases, and he enjoys playing while taking in the audience’s reaction. And in “Partyman,” Prince sings a bit of “Release It.” The Special Edition comes with a Blu-ray of audience footage. This footage is the PAL video from Fullasoul, recorded onto Blu-ray with as little degradation as possible. The contrast is stable, the colors are well-balanced, and it is of considerably high quality for audience footage from that time. The cameraman is positioned high up on the left side of the stage, at the back of the arena, with no obstructions to the view, resulting in a clear image. The camera shakes a little in some parts, but the overall filming technique is at a very high level. There are no close-ups, but the cameraman does a great job of focusing on what is happening on stage. There is also a short video of just over a minute at the beginning, featuring the opening act Lois Lane and footage of the venue.
