Description
A 2CD set containing the 2001 live performance of “Contra Post Quartet” led by Pare Danielsson, a famous bassist representing European jazz. This work includes two performances held in the same year: the Berwaldhallen performance in Stockholm, Sweden on February 10, 2001, and the Jazzbaltica performance held in Bad Salzau, Germany on June 29, 2001, on discs 1 and 2 respectively. The quartet consists of talented members including Pare Danielsson on double bass, Rita Marcotulli on piano, and Joakim Milder on tenor/soprano saxophone. On drums, Jon Christensen is participating in the Swedish performance, and Anders Kjellberg is participating in the German performance. The biggest point is that both performances are recorded with high quality sound board sound sources. Centered around Danielson’s unique deep and rich bass sound, delicate piano, lyrical saxophone, and a tight-knit rhythm section create a performance that is full of the clarity and tension typical of Scandinavian jazz. This is a valuable live collection that combines the 2001 performances in Sweden and Germany, where you can enjoy Pare Danielsson’s outstanding bass play and interplay by Europe’s best players with a good sound board sound source. It is interesting to listen to and compare the songs played at both performances, such as “MARS”, “SIRI”, and “FOR YOU, PETER”, and pay attention to the changes in the ensemble due to the different drummers.
