Description

The two-night stand at Earls Court in November 1995 stands as a shining, historic highlight in the Oasis canon—a series of performances that remain immensely popular among fans. While we previously released the definitive version of the first night—utilizing a newly discovered DAT source that rendered all prior releases obsolete—the recording for the second night has finally arrived! And the quality? Simply stunning. It doesn’t just eclipse the flawed releases of the past; this is a flawless stereo soundboard recording that could easily pass for an official release! We confidently recommend this as an essential addition to any collection. The London Earls Court shows represent the pinnacle of Oasis in 1995, ranking alongside the Maine Road and Knebworth concerts in terms of their legendary status. Stereo soundboard recordings exist for both nights and have spawned numerous bootleg releases over the years. Regarding the first night, our 2024 release—*EARLS COURT 1995 1ST NIGHT: NEW DAT SOURCE REMASTERED EDITION*—reigns supreme as the definitive version, utilizing a first-generation DAT copy of the mix created by producer Owen Morris; it continues to be acclaimed as the ultimate recording of that opening night. Ever since that release, fans have eagerly awaited a new definitive version for the second night. The stereo soundboard recording for the second night was originally unearthed by the classic label Flushbulb on their acclaimed release *FAB 5+4 (EXTRAVAGANZA)*; at the time, its superior sound quality made it a staple among collectors—even more so than the recordings of the first night. That said, while the stereo soundboard source made a good initial impression, it suffered from the kind of instability often found in leaked soundboard recordings: a critical skip during “The Swamp Song,” sporadic noise between tracks, brief dropouts in some songs, a lack of punch in the guitar, excessive low-end frequencies in Alan’s bass drum and Guigsy’s bass, and even slight pitch inaccuracies. Despite these flaws, the value of the stereo soundboard recording led to the release of numerous derivative titles. However, each had its own issues, and many were arguably even more flawed than the original *FAB 5+4 (EXTRAVAGANZA)*. A notable release was *OASIS’ EARL’S COURT TRIUMPH* from the BAYSWATER label; however, it fell far short of surpassing *FAB 5+4 (EXTRAVAGANZA)* because the second night’s recording was sourced from compressed, lossy audio, featured rough mastering, and retained the incorrect pitch. That is precisely why fans have long awaited a definitive edition that resolves all these issues. Now, this release arrives to meet those expectations. In producing it, we went back to the original leaked soundboard source and conducted a thorough analysis. First, we eliminated all the sporadic noise between tracks and the brief dropouts found in some songs. Then, following the approach used for previous Oasis titles, we utilized the latest AI technology to separate the source audio into eleven distinct tracks—vocals, guitar, bass, hi-hat, cymbals, snare, toms, bass drum, piano, audience noise, and others—treating each individually before remixing the entire recording from scratch. Delivering the best-sounding version possible required addressing several key areas. Above all, we optimized the sound pressure of Alan’s bass drum, which—even in the original leaked soundboard recording—had an overly prominent, rough mix. As a result, snare and tom performances—which previously tended to get buried in the mix—have regained their true presence. This achievement was made possible only through AI-driven, granular separation of the drum parts. The guitars have also regained their body, achieving a complete revival of that incredibly natural, fat, and quintessential “Oasis sound” reminiscent of an official release. Regarding the Earls Court show specifically, the band employed a special large-venue lineup featuring strings, brass, and a harmonica player; however, on the leaked soundboard recording, the strings often sat too far forward in the mix with an unnatural balance, frequently undermining the band’s ensemble. This issue—unfixable with the technology available at the time—has finally been resolved through AI track separation. The mix has been restored to a natural balance evocative of the actual live experience, comparable to the official *There and Then* video or the *Earls Court 1995 1st Night: New DAT Source Remastered Edition* release. Furthermore, the acoustic guitar volume—which was inexplicably lacking in the leaked soundboard during Noel’s solo acoustic segments—has been restored, and the unnatural fade-out/fade-in transition between “Live Forever” and “Champagne Supernova” has been perfectly repaired. Pitch discrepancies that plagued previous releases have also been completely corrected! The performance itself is legendary—hardly needing further description—but listening to the sheer dynamism and Liam’s vocals as the band goes full-throttle right from the opening salvo of “Acquiesce,” “Supersonic,” “Hello,” and “Some Might Say,” one can easily understand why they were destined to conquer the world. And matching that band aura perfectly is the incredible intensity of the audience! The two-night Earls Court run set a Guinness World Record for indoor concert attendance in Europe at the time; needless to say, the crowd was absolutely electric! During the acoustic segment, the audience matched Noel’s performance with a spectacular singalong—so impressive that Noel even handed the final chorus over to the crowd, saying, “Your turn.” The encore brought surprises not seen the previous night, too! First, The Bootleg Beatles joined as guests for “I Am The Walrus” (alongside the string, brass, and harmonica sections that had performed the day before). They even capped it all off by playing “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” a track that hadn’t been included in the first night’s setlist! It was a grand finale to a two-day run where Oasis gave absolutely everything they had. The ability to truly enjoy such a magnificent performance is only possible thanks to the meticulous polishing and refinement mentioned earlier. Who could have imagined that a leaked soundboard recording could be transformed into something with the quality of an official live album? An UPGRADE!!! A monumental, top-tier release that rivals official products has finally arrived! Perfect content and sound quality. Remaster & Remix of Stereo Soundboard Recording.
