Description

A live recording boasting superb sound quality and performance, which is unbelievable considering it has never been released anywhere before, is finally being released for the first time! A truly ultimate new standard recording that will shatter the conventional wisdom about the ‘HEATHEN CHEMISTRY’ tour. This is really amazing! At first glance, the 2002 ‘HEATHEN CHEMISTRY’ tour seems to be blessed with good items, such as the famous Finsbury Park performance, ‘COMPLETE WITNNESS FESTIVAL 2002′, and the series of Japanese performances, but in reality, the August US tour has a gaping hole in terms of “great performances and great recordings”. With so much time having passed, some people might even be wondering, “Did Oasis even tour America properly in 2002?” The 2002 US tour was fraught with trouble from the very first show in Pompano Beach, Florida, when Liam had to give up early in the show due to feeling unwell (although it was a rare case where he left the stage after complaining that his throat wasn’t in good condition). This concert was captured on the nostalgic FLUSHBULB label’s “NOEL SINGS WHEN LIAM’S DOWN,” and virtually no other live recordings from this period have been released. As a result, it has remained difficult to grasp the reality of the US tour for “HEATHEN CHEMISTRY” to this day. To make matters worse, as the tour progressed, Noel and Andy were involved in a car accident on a travel day, and Noel suffered facial contusions, resulting in the cancellation of three shows. These circumstances combined to make the 2002 US tour extremely scarce in terms of available merchandise. However, far from shedding light on that missing piece of the album, this week sees the release of one of the finest recordings of 2002 as a whole! It’s the Atlanta concert from August 5th, and it’s surprising that this audience recording of such superb quality has never been released on CD before! The sound quality is incredibly clear, and the recording is so superb that it could be released as is! In the US in August, where there are already so few items available, there’s hardly a more worthy recording to release. And to make the most of the excellent quality of this audience recording, we once again used the latest AI technology to separate the master source into a total of 12 tracks (bass drum, tom, snare, hi-hat, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, audience noise, guitar, bass, vocals, piano, etc.), remastered each track, and then remixed it. However, the original sound quality was so good that such elaborate work wasn’t really necessary. Even so, it has evolved into an even clearer, more spacious, and more listenable sound! In the first track, “Hello,” there are two instances in the latter half of the song where the sound quality changes for just a moment, and one instance where the sound briefly skips. However, both of these issues were present in the original master source. While the reason for the latter skip is unknown, the former is presumed to be due to the taper’s recording being affected by the overwhelming excitement of the audience at the front. Fortunately, both are only brief moments. As mentioned earlier, the audio from this Atlanta performance is truly superb. For example, the power of the performance at the start of “Hung In A Bad Place” is even clearer and sharper than the original recording, making it incredibly impactful. As this moment demonstrates, the clarity of this recording and the remastering and remixing using the latest AI technology are generally well-suited to the tracks on “HEATHEN CHEMISTRY,” and songs like “Force Of Nature” have significantly increased power and clarity. In “Born On A Different Cloud,” Alan’s intricate drumming, with its various phrases and tom-tom fills, is even clearer than in the original source, and the interplay between Noel’s lengthy guitar solo and Alan’s drums in the latter half of the song is so superb that it can be called the highlight of the day. Liam’s vocals, which have made a remarkable recovery from his poor performance at Pompano Beach, are also captured in remarkably clear sound quality. His passionate singing in the poignant “Stop Crying Your Heart Out,” and his complete comeback in the finale “My Generation,” are incredibly vivid and can be enjoyed in the clearest possible sound quality, a testament to the synergistic effect of the remastering and remixing. Liam’s condition at this Atlanta performance is undoubtedly a major counter-argument that completely dispels the negative image previously held about the American tour of the “HEATHEN CHEMISTRY” tour. Furthermore, “She’s Electric,” a highlight of the 2002 repertoire featuring Noel on vocals, is also recorded in superb quality, showcasing the charm of the performance centered around Noel’s vocals. Just listening to these recordings will leave you baffled by the excellent sound quality and the rich performance, making you wonder why the Atlanta show had never been released before. The massive singalong to “Wonderwall” (fully recorded!) that played throughout the venue after the show was truly spectacular and distinctly American. It’s clear that the band wasn’t the only driving force behind this great performance; the passionate audience played a huge role as well. However, just when you thought this show would give the American tour a boost, the aforementioned car accident occurred, forcing the cancellation of several shows—a truly unfortunate tour. This groundbreaking first-ever CD release not only brilliantly fills in the missing piece of this overlooked period, but it’s also an astonishingly superb recording with top-notch sound quality and performance!
