Miles Davis John Scofield / Italy 1985 Complete Soundboard Edition & more

This Blu-ray release couples Miles Davis’s performance at the Amblia Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, on July 7th, 1985, from the Septet’s Euro Tour, with audio and video newly remastered in 2026. The audio features a full 2-hour and 7-minute recording of the day’s performance in stereo soundboard format, mastered from the radio broadcast master. The show starts off strong with a combination of “One Phone Call/Street Scenes” and “Speak,” and because this live performance took place around the time of the release of his album “You’re Under Arrest,” which garnered a huge response for its pop sensibility, Miles’s signature melancholic and somber phrases are evident even in pop cover numbers such as Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” making it a performance that will satisfy fans 120%. Another characteristic of this period is that while Vince’s drums and Miles’ synthesizers create digital rhythms, John Scofield on guitar and Darryl Jones on bass freely construct phrases and lines. Furthermore, the Blu-ray video is a master-quality, professionally shot recording from the TV broadcast. Except for the two tracks “MS. MORRISINE” and “DECOY,” which are still images because there was no video, the performance itself is exactly the same as the CD, and the Blu-ray’s large capacity is utilized to reproduce the day’s events in the original HD quality.
