Description
This is a superb recording of Miles Davis’s performance at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France on July 20, 1973, captured on tape using an open-reel deck placed in front of his monitor amplifier, resulting in a crystal-clear sound. While this Antibes Jazz performance is not listed on the overseas website “Miles Ahead,” it is included in “The Sound of Miles,” a book by Miles Davis recording collector Jan Roman. The newly released recording has been remastered by a renowned overseas enthusiast, familiar from the Definitive series, minimizing noise and creating a natural sound image that allows you to experience the tension of the live performance even more vividly. Recorded from the monitor amplifier in front of Liebmann, his saxophone sound is the main focus, and Pete Cosey’s sharp, edgy guitar playing, sitting beside him, is also perfectly captured. The realistic sound image is so vivid that you’ll feel as if the live performance is happening right in front of you, giving you goosebumps.
