Description
A new title has been released that captures previously unreleased studio sessions, including studio conversations, from the legendary albums “Kind of Blue” and “Someday My Prince Will Come,” recorded at Columbia Studios in New York, in official-quality sound. The first two tracks are documentary recordings of conversations within the studio during the recording of “Kind of Blue,” a landmark album in jazz history recorded in 1958 with Bill Evans, Coltrane, and others. These include Take 1 (5 minutes 50 seconds) and Take 2 (5 minutes 47 seconds) from the “Flan Dance” session recorded at Columbia Studios on May 26th. The following “Stella by Starlight” session contains 27 minutes and 29 seconds of previously unreleased sessions from Take 1 to Take 7, allowing you to hear the process of these rare takes being recorded in the best possible sound quality. These two takes are groundbreaking new recordings of superb quality, completely different from the audio available on free websites and the like. The highlight of the main performance is the recording of the “Drad Dog” session from the masterpiece “Someday My Prince Will Come,” recorded at Columbia Studios on March 7, 1961. This recording includes rehearsals and takes 1 through 6, totaling 20 minutes and 24 seconds. Take 6, in particular, is a never-before-heard stereo recording. Furthermore, the “Pfranting” session is recorded from takes 1 through 6, with take 6, which is 8 minutes and 30 seconds long, also a never-before-heard stereo recording. These takes are so realistic they’ll give you goosebumps, and this is the true essence of unofficial Miles Davis recordings. Finally, you can hear a mono recording of take 8 of “Someday My Prince Will Come,” recorded on March 20. Unfortunately, there are no plans for an official release of this incredibly rare and shocking audio track, which is over 78 minutes long. 1. Session Of “Fran Dance” (May 26, 1958) 2.
