While the original master tape contained noise and dropouts during “AIDA,” these sections have been seamlessly patched and corrected; although not a 100% complete recording, the audio balance and overall sound have been optimized to deliver what is arguably the best quality available today. This tour, undertaken by the so-called “Comeback Band” after a five-year hiatus, found the group—Miles included—hitting their stride and performing at a high level. The setlist consists of just four extended tracks, featuring a rare structure for this era that prioritizes solo improvisation over other elements. Mike Stern stands out with his crisp rhythm work and fluid solo phrases—often taking the spotlight while Miles plays a more understated role—while Marcus Miller’s powerful, driving bass lines provide a formidable foundation.
