As the latest collector’s edition of the legendary and rare footage of “Captain EO,” this title, presented in a 1CD+1DVD format, includes the complete version of the newly remastered HD footage, as well as rare footage and a soundtrack collection, all recorded in the latest 2026 remastered audio and video. First, “Captain EO,” a space adventure action film produced in 1986 when the film was at the height of its popularity, was executive produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, bringing together top creators in the entertainment industry at the time. This legendary footage, which was shown for a limited time as a 3D movie attraction but has not been officially released since, is now included on DVD in newly edited HD remastered footage. The original main feature, which differs from the theatrical release version, has been restored from the original film negative (4:3) and is presented in its unedited form. It also comes with uniquely edited Japanese subtitles (with on/off option), as well as a widescreen (16:9) edited version and PV edited versions of two of the insert songs. The extra section also includes production history, never-before-seen rough cuts including scenes not used in the final film, and behind-the-scenes footage and TV commercials that were broadcast on TV in the US and Japan at the time. The CD features a newly edited 2026 version of the film’s soundtrack, compiling unreleased tracks, alternate versions of related music, and even theatrical instrumental tracks.
