Kiss / Tokyo, Japan 1977 3Source Master Collection

The now-legendary 1977 KISS debut in Japan was televised at the time, and numerous video sources based on that footage have circulated. Now, we present a set of three different best masters. First, the Japan tour consisted of nine shows in total, and for their first visit to Japan, they received exceptional treatment for their first live performance in Japan, including four shows at the Nippon Budokan (including both daytime and evening performances). Of these, only a few songs from the daytime and evening performances on April 2nd were televised, and this set compiles three of the best masters from that broadcast source. Disc 1 is the most familiar original broadcast version from “Young Music Show,” recorded directly from a video copy recorded in Japan at the time, and contains 50 minutes of footage. Disc 2 is the theatrical 16mm film, commonly known as “KISS LIVE IN JAPAN,” the version distributed by the record company to Japanese movie theaters at the time, and also distributed to other countries for promotional purposes, recorded for 48 minutes. Furthermore, disc 3 contains the main attraction of this title: the original HBO broadcast version from the United States, boasting ultimate visual beauty. This 50-minute version is taken from the best-quality master of the footage broadcast by a local New York cable TV station in 1979. Note that there are subtle differences between each version, and each has its own unique image quality, making it a must-have item for longtime fans, especially considering its high historical value.
