Held between the “Cologne Concert” and the “Sun Bear Concert,” where Keith’s talent exploded, this previously unreleased, legendary concert—a collaboration between Keith Jarrett as a soloist and an orchestra—is said to have been a turning point in his career, and it’s finally making its debut in high fidelity! This legendary concert, which focuses more on Keith Jarrett as a composer/musician than as a pianist, has been largely unknown until now, and has been spoken of only among his most devoted fans as the least known concert of his career. This two-disc set, featuring a complete recording of the 1976 White Mountain Music Festival in New Hampshire, USA, where Jarrett performed “In the Light,” “Luminescence,” and “Ritual” with solo piano and orchestra, has been meticulously remastered by the label and is now available in high fidelity! This performance, lasting approximately two hours, features pieces from Keith’s 1974 album “In the Light,” including the 25-minute “Metamorphosis,” “Fugato for Harpsichord,” and “String Quartet,” as well as “Wind Song” from “Luminescence,” featuring Keith’s own soprano saxophone playing, and an expanded version of “Ritual,” a 1977 piece known for its performance by Dennis Russell Davis, along with several orchestral pieces. The performance begins with parts 1 and 2 of “Ritual.” Part 1 is a nearly 20-minute solo by Keith, and part 2 is a nearly 30-minute piano solo before the orchestra joins in. This is followed by “Metamorphosis” performed by the orchestra alone, “Wind Song” with Keith’s soprano saxophone and orchestra, and “Fugato for Harpsichord” as a piano solo, and four orchestral parts.
