Details of each disc are as follows: Disc 1: Contains Joshua Redman’s latest performance, recorded in the highest quality at a jazz festival held in Spain on July 18, 2012. This live performance features a collaboration with “The Bud Plus,” who made their debut in 2003 with the album “Vistas” and became a sensation among jazz fans. Their sound, created by a group that dislikes playing by script (lol), combined with Joshua’s tenor saxophone, creates a tense and gripping atmosphere that makes the live performance unmissable. The chemistry between Ethan Iverson’s piano and Joshua’s tenor saxophone is so strong that you might mistake them for long-time partners; this live performance makes you want to see it in person. Further pursuing the sound of an acoustic trio, Joshua Redman challenges himself with a double rhythm section/double trio formation, moving to even greater heights!! Initially, he aimed for a group sound with a fixed three members, but during his long tours, he had the opportunity to play with different rhythm sections many times. It was at that moment that Joshua suddenly thought, “Wouldn’t it be interesting to mix this rhythm section together?” That’s how the “Double-trio” began, but Joshua himself was initially worried that playing with five people would become a chaotic mess and uncontrollable. The other members must have felt the same way. So, in order to avoid the disorderly chaos that would result from just banging and playing with all their might, they probably adopted a calm, cautious approach, observing each other’s moves.
