After completing his Japan tour from late January to February 1985, Johnny returned to New York and performed consecutive shows at Irving Plaza on April 1, 2, 3, 8, and 13. The first night featured guest appearances by his Dolls bandmates David Johansen and Arthur Kane, while the final night, with guest appearances by Richard Hell, Sylvain Sylvain, and Walter Lure, can be heard on the label’s previously released album “IRVING PLAZA 85.” This release captures the second night, April 2, 1985, in a high-quality stereo audience recording! Recorded from a low-generation master, it boasts a wide dynamic range, excellent balance in both vocals and other parts, and Johnny’s guitar, roaring and resonating throughout the floor, is captured with incredible power and clarity. This live recording features Johnny Depp’s lineup from the time of the album “QUE SERA SERA” release, with the Black rhythm section Keith Jong & Tony St. Helen and Henry Paul on side guitar. The recording starts with the opening sound effect of “The Man with the Golden Arm,” and the setlist features “Blame It On Mom,” “Little Bit Of Whore,” and “M.I.A.” from the then-new album “QUE SERA SERA.” In the middle, Johnny Depp performs an acoustic solo set of “Joey” ~ “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory,” but it only lasts a few seconds (lol). However, Walter Lure makes a surprise appearance! They play Heartbreakers killer tunes “Too Much Junkie Business,” “Born To Lose,” and “Chinese Rocks”!
