This release features a full 1 hour and 40 minute recording of the July 3rd Paris, France concert from the powerful quartet’s 2004 Euro tour, digitally remastered in 2026 using the original FM broadcast master. While the French DJ speeches between songs have been cut, resulting in fade-outs for each track, this allows for a smooth listening experience without interruptions from the DJ, and the overall sound balance has been refined through mastering to recreate the concert’s atmosphere with high fidelity. This live performance by the members, often described as a co-led band with Wayne Shorter, is reminiscent of their performance at “Tokyo Jazz 2004” two months later in Japan. As with the Japanese performance, Hancock’s presence is undeniably significant, resulting in a distinctly different atmosphere from the W. Shorter Quartet, giving it a fresh impression. Furthermore, Dave Holland’s smooth acoustic bass and Brian Blade’s precise drumming are all top-notch.
