Description
In 1974, the Gary Burton Quintet, featuring a young 20-year-old Pat Metheny, performed at Molde Jazz in Norway, shocking Europe. This newly unearthed, high-quality master recording captures that performance, including the encore, making it a masterpiece. Young Pat Metheny participated in three albums released by Gary Burton on the ECM label, laying the foundation for the brilliant guitar playing he would later perfect. In this live performance, Metheny’s playing is on par with that of guitarist Mick Goodrick, captivating the audience. The show opens with “Sea Journey” from the 1977 album “Passenger,” and continues with tracks selected from albums released between 1972 and 1974. The encore concludes the performance with Keith Jarrett’s classic “Coral.” This is sure to be a must-have for all jazz fans. Live at Molde Jazz Festival, Norway 08/02/1974 1. Sea Journey 2.
