This 2-hour and 1-minute recording captures the fifth of seven consecutive shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 24th, part of the UK leg of their 2013 tour commemorating their 50th anniversary. The footage is from a well-preserved audience recording recently made public by the owner. The wide shots, taken from a camera slightly to the left of the stage, focus on Clapton but also capture the entire stage well, allowing viewers to enjoy the band’s performance without any obstructions until the very end. This year was a very energetic one for Clapton, with appearances in America and Europe, including at festivals such as the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Amidst many changes in the setlists at each location, the opening number was “Hello Old Friend,” a song not played since the 1976 tour, and they also played “Gotta Get Over” from their then-released album, “OLD SOCK.” In addition, “Come Rain Or Come Shine” from the 2000 album “RIDING WITH THE KING” was performed live for the first time that night, and the set mainly consisted of representative songs befitting the 50th anniversary, with a fiery solo in “Got To Get Better In A Little While” from the Dominos era. Furthermore, “I Shot The Sheriff,” which was only played four times in the seven days, and an acoustic arrangement of “Further On Down The Road” were performed, and in the encore “Sunshine Of Your Love,” Gary Clark Jr., who was the opening act, made a surprise appearance, which was a huge hit.
