This release features a complete recording of the opening night of legendary Diana Ross’s 2026 Japan tour—her first in 11 years—held on May 23 at K-Arena Yokohama. It utilizes a “multi-stereo IEM matrix” format, expertly blending the distinct stereo In-Ear Monitor (IEM) mixes used by the band members on stage with a digital audience recording. This approach captures the full live sound—anchored by Diana’s vocals and supported by a large ensemble including four backing vocalists, drums/percussion, bass, and guitar—with astonishing instrument separation and clarity. Free from the click tracks or guide cues often found in IEM sources, the recording delivers a “hybrid sound” that recreates the concert with true soundboard-quality fidelity. The show opens with an “Overture” featuring narration and visuals that trace her career history, followed by a setlist that kicks off with “I’m Coming Out.” Spanning over six decades, the performance covers everything from her 1960s Supremes era and 1970s solo hits to her 1980s disco-funk period (collaborating with Chic) and tracks from her 2011 album *Thank You*. While the parade of massive hits is naturally superb, the most astonishing aspect is Diana’s own vocal power and performance; her voice defies her 82 years, leaving the listener simply amazed. One of the highlights of the show was the appearance of special guests; her daughter, Rhonda Ross Kendrick, sang four songs starting with “Someday,” and later, during “Upside Down,” Diana’s three grandchildren took the stage to dance along to the music, creating a warm, family-oriented atmosphere.
