Description
This release features a nearly complete 1 hour and 46 minute recording of a live performance in Stockholm, Sweden on February 27th, from the Euro tour immediately following the release of “THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT” in 1987, taken from a high-quality audience master. First, there’s the previously unreleased audience recording, recently made public by a taper, which has been directly digitized from the original master, resulting in a quality that could easily be mistaken for a soundboard recording. The setlist is rare and valuable, including four songs from the album and a cover of Muddy Waters’ “She’s All Right,” and also includes the unusual incident where Ritchie suddenly leaves the stage during the latter half of “Black Night” and never returns. While some say the audience wasn’t pleased, the main set ended abruptly, and then during the encore, Gillan announced Ritchie’s absence. The remaining four continued playing, performing Muddy Waters’ “She’s All Right,” “Call of the Wild” from the new album, and finally ending with an organ version of “Smoke on the Water” led by Jon Lord. In a way, it was a very rare live performance and definitely worth a listen for fans. Live at Johanneshov Isstadion, Stockholm, Sweden 27th February 1987 Disc 1 : 1. Intro 2. Highway Star 3.
