This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miles Davis, one of the greatest innovators in jazz history. To celebrate this historic milestone, a tribute live performance by the “Vance Band All-Stars,” led by Miles Davis’s protégé saxophonist Bill Evans, has been recorded using a top-quality audience recording master. This performance will re-present the legacy of 20th-century jazz as a contemporary sound, focusing on repertoire selected from Miles’s historically significant albums, interwoven with modern arrangements and original compositions. The stage will reinterpret the spirit of modal jazz and electrified jazz pioneered by Miles from Evans’ own perspective. Joining him will be Till Brönner, one of Europe’s leading trumpeters; Russell Ferrante, keyboardist known as a founding member of Yellowjackets; James Genus, bassist who has supported numerous top artists; and Keith Carlock, one of the greatest session drummers of our time. This “all-star unit” brings together world-class musicians to connect Miles Davis’s legacy to the modern jazz scene in an extremely important live performance—a must-have for every home!
