Description

A groundbreaking work that gave rock its first artistic acclaim, overflowing with intellectual flair in soulful rock! A masterpiece from their “mid-period” that showcased their masterful use of the studio! THE ALTERNATE ALBUM COLLECTION The “Alternate Album Collection” series is an overseas original new edit that thoroughly pursues Beatles’ original album-related sound sources based on the latest updates. A new reference collection that carefully selects a wide variety of interesting Beatles sound sources, from newly discovered, never-before-seen sound sources to original sound sources. From the latest multi-track remixes to unreleased studio sessions and various versions, the numerous unreleased and discovered sound sources that have been repeatedly updated have been reconstructed after scrutinizing their sound quality and editing. A noteworthy collector’s edition series with the latest editing that thoroughly pursues “alternative” sound sources that cannot be heard with only the limited publicly released sound sources. Released in the UK on December 3, 1965, this is the Beatles’ sixth official original album. The double A-side single “We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper,” which was not included on the album, was also released simultaneously and both reached number one on the UK charts. The album title is derived from the slang term “plastic soul,” which implies that their music is not authentic compared to Black music. The North American version of “Rubber Soul,” released by Capitol Records, features a unique selection and editing, as in previous releases. In the UK, “Dreaming Man” and “It’s Only Love” from the album “Help!” were added, and four songs, “Drive My Car,” “I’m Alone,” “If I Fall in Love,” and “The Love That Disappeared,” were included on the album “Yesterday and Today.” It is a “folk-rock album” with a different feel from the UK version. Also, a different master was used than in the UK, and the so-called “false start” at the beginning of “Where Are You Going?” and the mix of “Words of Love” are different. The album “Rubber Soul” is considered the first significant artistic achievement by the band themselves, profoundly influencing the music scene of the time and pioneering the possibilities of pop music by broadening the scope of lyrics and music. It is also highly regarded as the origin of later psychedelic and progressive rock, and marked a broad shift in direction from single-centric music to album production that consistently features high-quality songs. For the Beatles, it was a turning point where they truly took the lead, combining artistic leaps and advancements in recording. By incorporating new instruments such as sitar, harmonium, and fuzz bass, introduced in this album, their expressiveness and arrangements evolved more richly, and it is an important album that evolved from their early Merseybeat sound to “Revolver” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” As part of the “Alternate Album Collection” series, “Rubber Soul” is released in two editions, “Rubber Soul: Sessions” and “Rubber Soul: Versions,” both as 3-CD sets. “Rubber Soul: Sessions” is a 3-CD set containing 30 tracks from the “Multitrack New Remix Album” and 60 tracks from “The Studio Recording Sessions.” DISC 1: MULTITRACK NEW REMIX ALBUM + SINGLES + INSTRUMENTALS This disc includes all 14 tracks from the original album, two singles not included on the album, and instrumental versions of all the album tracks, all newly remixed using multitrack editing. The first 14 tracks feature new stereo remixes that utilize AI technology to separate the vocals and chorus, and reconstruct the multitracks of each instrument. These new mixes differ from previous official stereo mixes and remastered versions, and are noteworthy for their clear separation of lead vocals and chorus, as well as the clearer sound image of each instrument. The placement of guitars and drums is also different in these new mixes, and the difference in sound is clearly discernible. DISC2: THE STUDIO RECORDING SESSIONS 1 DISC3: THE STUDIO RECORDING SESSIONS 2 These discs contain studio session recordings from the album’s production process from October 12th to November 1965, presented in roughly chronological order. These discs include previously unreleased recordings of the session, as well as newly updated stereo remixes, unlike any other remastered or remixed versions. The instrumental section in the latter half focuses on the Beatles’ performance itself, and is not simply the original with the vocals removed, but rather a newly edited instrumental album with improved balance and stereo separation from the multi-track source. This compilation features the latest updates, improving sound quality not only on previously released and official tracks but also on numerous tracks that were previously only available in mono but are now presented in stereo for the first time. The tracks included here are demixes that continue to evolve with the latest updates, not simply separating vocals and instruments, but rather individual vocals, overdubbed choruses, and instruments, resulting in stereo remixes from multi-track sources. Iconic choral work in songs like “Nowhere Man,” “In My Life,” “If I Were to Fall in Love,” “Words of Love,” “Think for Yourself,” “You Want to See Me,” and “Wait” features the three-part harmonies of John, Paul, and George individually separated, or mixes of John’s vocals alone or Paul’s vocals alone, resulting in new and unprecedented sound. It’s noteworthy that while such extracted tracks were often mono in the past, these are original stereo remixes with different editing and mixing. In terms of both the number of tracks and content, this is the best compilation of the latest updated tracks. A new, original collector’s edition of “Rubber Soul Sessions/Alternate Album Collection” is now available as a 3-CD set! =A newly edited collection of studio recording sessions, including previously unreleased tracks, from the latest multi-track remixes.
