Only one song was included in the officially released live take collection “Holding the Stage” (Road Shows Volume 4), from the live performance at Poli Jazz Festival in Finland, except for “Disco Monk”, an energetic live performance that includes all songs in official quality. The world tour started after the release of the album “Don’t Ask” on the Milestone label, and songs from the album, such as the title song “Don’t Ask”, “Tai Chi”, and “Harlem Boys” are also performed. In the studio version, Larry Coryell was selected as the guitar player, and it was a work with a strong fusion flavor, but in this live performance, a simple quartet without a guitar plays passionately, and the combination with Rollins’ singing tenor saxophone solo part, and Mark Soskins on the piano, is outstanding. “Strode Road”, which is included in the rare masterpiece “Saxophone Colossus”, is a masterpiece that lasts over 14 minutes, and it is no exaggeration to say that it is the biggest thing to listen to at this live performance.
