Description
From the 2002 Japan tour that Yngwie Malmsteen realized after the release of “ATTACK!!”, the first day of the tour in Kawasaki on December 3rd will be released as a 2-disc set using a high-quality DAT master that is completely unknown even among traders. This is the 2002 live performance in which Doogie White, former member of RITCHIE BLACKMORE’S RAINBOW, was appointed as the vocalist, delighting Japanese fans. You can enjoy the performance on the first day, which was particularly heated, with excellent audience sound. After working under his solo name for a long time, Yngwie used the name “RISING FORCE” for the first time in a long time, and “ALCHEMY” in 1999 attracted a lot of attention from fans, partly because he re-appointed Mark Boals as the vocalist. Japanese fans especially welcomed Yngwie’s “return to his roots” and “further evolution”. After the ’99 “ALCHEMY” tour, they performed together with an orchestra in Tokyo in June 2001, and one month later (July 2001) they returned to Japan as a band. Yngwie was responding to the strong popularity in Japan. However, the combination of Yngwie and Mark was a series of ups and downs, just as it had been before. Jorn Lande was used for the US tour in 2000, but Jorn left the band for a short time and Mark rejoined. Mark continued to sing for “WAR TO END ALL WARS” in 2001, but after the Japan tour in July of the same year, the relationship completely broke up. After that, Yngwie chose Doogie White, formerly of RITCHIE BLACKMORE’S RAINBOW. After a South American tour with him at the end of 2001, they released a new album “ATTACK!!” featuring him in 2002. This work is a recording of the first day of the 2002 Japan tour accompanying the “ATTACK!!” tour, held in Kawasaki on December 3rd, from the original DAT master, which is the first time it has been released. The performance is known for its excellent pre-recorded sound sources, such as “FIRST ATTACK!!”, but this work surpasses them and allows you to enjoy the entire live performance. The “ATTACK!!” Japan tour was characterized by a circuit of venues, mainly clubs. The powerful sound of the “close distance between the fans and the band” is a major attraction of this recording. The clear view unique to DAT and the direct feeling of feeling the stage at close range are simply amazing, starting from the opening song “Rise Up”. Not only Yngwie’s raging guitar, but also Doogie’s stable vocals are in top form from the beginning. Patrick Johansson’s powerful drumming will also leave a strong impression on the listener. The live started with “Rise Up”, followed by “Ship Of Fools” and “Stronghold”, three new songs from “ATTACK!!”. Yngwie’s unique baroque-based guitar playing, melodic yet hard songs overwhelm the audience with tremendous momentum from the beginning. “Ship Of Fools”, which is a song with a “Yngwie mark”, and the heavy “Stronghold” are irresistible numbers for enthusiastic Yngwie fans. Following the sudden new song part, fans can enjoy the representative songs they want to hear. “Icarus Dream Suite Op.4”, which allows you to listen carefully to Yngwie’s guitar, and a medley of his representative song “Far Beyond The Sun” greatly delight the fans in the venue. “Dreaming”, played on an acoustic guitar, has a wonderful clear tone that makes you see Yngwie’s fingering. Dougie follows the melody of Joe Lynn Turner (a senior member of RAINBOW) and sings with his own unique, free-flowing voice. This is a great highlight of this album. In the middle of the live performance, new songs from “ATTACK!!” are played again one after another. “Razor Eater” and “Attack!!” are great songs that combine depth and hardness with excellent melodies. The fact that Yngwie generously plays out these new songs shows the confidence he had in “ATTACK!!”. In the last song on disc 1, “Trilogy Suite Op.5” and “Red House”, Yngwie is very active on guitar and singing. In addition, at the beginning of disc 2, he also performs “Fugue” using the background music of an orchestra. The one and only Yngwie sound is overwhelming. After solos by each member of the keyboard, bass, and drums, the masterpiece “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” appears! After captivating the fans, they performed the new songs “Valhalla” and “In The Name Of God” again, concluding the main part of the set in a dramatic mood. Then, for the encore, they performed “Black Star” and “Rising Force” back to back, closing the live with great excitement! The live included seven songs from “ATTACK!!”. The new songs, which were included at the beginning, middle, and end of the live, appealed to the audience to see Yngwie’s image of continuing to move forward. The set list, which skillfully featured representative songs and popular songs, was a great listen. The audience was knocked out by Yngwie’s performance, which was full of confidence and power! This work reproduces the energetic stage unique to the first day with the best audience sound.
