Description

In 1985, Yngwie Malmsteen met Mark Boals, the undisputed No. 1 singer of all time, and was trying to achieve the ideal of neo-classical music. A new live album that allows you to experience the best of that shining stage is now available! This work is recorded at the “November 21, 1985 Uniondale performance”. It is a superb audience recording. At that time, it was the “MARCHING OUT” era, but in the middle of the tour, Jeff Scott Soto changed to Mark. It was also the time when the groundwork for the masterpiece “TRILOGY” was completed. That’s why the meaning of the sound source varies greatly depending on the detailed timing. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the position.・January 7-11: North America #1 (3 performances) ・January 22-27: Japan (5 performances) {February-March “RISING FORCE” released (Europe and the US)} ・May 10-18: North America #2 (6 performances) ・May 23-June 3: Europe (8 performances) ・June 7-July 19: North America #3 (26 performances) {August 1 “MARCHING OUT” released (Japan)} {Jeff leaves → Mark Boals joins} ・August 31-November 24: North America #4 (60 performances) ←★Here★ ・December 28-31: North America #5 (3 performances) This is Yngwie in 1985. The Uniondale performance of this work was the concert that was the final 58th performance of “North America #4”. In the above, it is summarized as if Mark is singing from this “North America #4”, but in fact the story is not so simple. The recordings from this period are a mixture of Mark and Jeff. It may simply be that tapes with the wrong date are causing confusion, or it may be that Jeff actually sang several times for some reason. Contrary to his fame, Yngwie’s audience recordings have not been verified worldwide, and a definite timeline has not yet been completed. As a result, the reality is that the only way to judge the 1985 recording is to actually listen to it. In fact, this recording was also released as “Jeff on vocals.” This is probably because neither the recorder (actually the legendary Joe Maloney) nor the publisher (actually the prestigious Krw_co) paid attention to Yngwie. And that’s no surprise. This day was the opening act for AC/DC, and both Maloney and Krw_co were looking forward to AC/DC. I’m sure some of you have already guessed it. The sound is neat and sharp. The core is powerful, and the contours are very vivid. Yngwie’s rapid-fire phrases are clear and do not collapse no matter how much they accelerate, and Mark’s vibrato is also beautifully depicted with changes in the range of vibration. Even more surprisingly, the sound is clearly better than AC/DC’s “Shades 1507”. It is a continuous recording by the same person… This is only a guess, but perhaps the fact that the volume was kept down because it was an opening act worked well. AC/DC, which has a powerful sound and a groove-driven sound, focuses on the drums with the highest sound pressure, and the other instruments tend to be withdrawn. As a result, a sense of distance is created in the mid-to-high range. In contrast, Yngwie focuses on the upper parts such as the guitar and vocals. Therefore, the melody stands out clearly, while the supporting beat does not feel sparse, and the entire ensemble is captured on. In addition, the audience is not noisy because it is an opening act. It may not be a good thing for Yngwie at the scene, but this makes the subtleties of the guitar extremely clear. The direct sound depicts the masterpieces of “MARCHING OUT” built up by Mark’s vocals. The essence of the first two albums is condensed into one LP (about 46 minutes). Let’s summarize it briefly here. Rising Force (2 songs) – Far Beyond The Sun / Black Star Marching Out (5 songs) – I’ll See The Light Tonight / On The Run Again / Don’t Let It End / Soldier Without Faith (★) / Disciples Of Hell *Note: “★” marks are songs that could not be heard in the official video of the Japanese performance “CHASING YNGWIE”. … and so on. The two deadly instrumental songs are also wonderful with the sharp guitar of the young Yngwie, but what really catches your ear is the vocal songs of “MARCHING OUT” where Mark’s singing shines. Not only the rare song “Soldier Without Faith” that is unique to this period, but all five songs have been completely reborn with high notes of passion and elegance. To be honest, I love Jeff’s passionate singing as a singer, but when it comes to compatibility with Yngwie’s songs, Mark is the best choice. The matching of this voice, guitar, and song is nothing but a miracle given by heaven. Yngwie and Mark at their peak. This combination came to Japan in later years, but I wish they had come at this time… This new masterpiece was recorded by the master Joe Maloney, who recorded a magnificent live performance that even made me think of the grudges from over 35 years ago. This is an excellent audience recording of the “Uniondale performance on November 21, 1985”, just after Mark Boals joined the band. This is a masterpiece among masterpieces transferred from the master Joe Maloney’s original master by the prestigious “Krw_co”, and the sound is neat and sharp. The core is strong and the contours are very vivid. Yngwie’s rapid-fire phrases are clear and do not collapse no matter how fast they are accelerated, and Mark’s vibrato is also impressive, even changing the range of the vibration. You can enjoy the masterpieces of “MARCHING OUT” built up by Mark’s singing voice. Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York, USA 21st November 1985 TRULY PERFECT SOUND (45:57) 1. Tune-Up / Intro 2.
