Description

“50TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR” performed at Tokyo Dome City Hall on February 24, 2019, which was a one-time show in the world. The finest original recording is now available on 2CD. This 50th anniversary visit to Japan received rave reviews after rave reviews in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. At our store, we have reported on each day with masterpiece recordings. This work is also the final installment. First, let’s organize the collection by date. ・February 19th “NAGOYA & AMAGASAKI 2019” Disc 1-2 ・February 20th “NAGOYA & AMAGASAKI 2019” Disc 3-4 ・February 22nd “TOKYO 2019 1ST NIGHT” ・February 23rd “TOKYO 2019 2ND NIGHT” February 24th: Tokyo Dome City Hall [This work] *Note: Only representative works are shown on each day. That’s all 5 performances. Only “NAGOYA & AMAGASAKI 2019” was introduced, but the best sound collection will be completed at the subsequent Tokyo performance. Even within such a masterpiece series, this work stands out by far. After all, the show is too special. The daily set of this tour attracted a lot of attention, and this is the first time in YES’s history of visiting Japan. Up until now, it was only changes to the encores, but this time, the main set and concept have been drastically changed. This breathed new life into the 50th anniversary set, which was already full of rare songs. Although each day had something to listen to, the last day attracted the most attention. First, let’s organize the concepts for each day. ・February 19th (Nagoya): Complete reproduction of “Crisis” ・February 20th (Amagasaki): Complete reproduction of “Crisis” ・February 22nd (Tokyo): Complete reproduction of “Crisis” ・February 23rd (Tokyo) : Best song selection set February 24th (Tokyo): Complete reproduction of “Third Album” ←★This work★ …and it looks like this. This work was a complete reproduction show of the masterpiece “Third Album”. The high level of completion of the reenactment show for the first three days became a hot topic, but “Kirishi” was also experienced after coming to Japan in 2014. On the other hand, “Third Album” is the first in Japan. Moreover, this is rare worldwide. There was also a reenactment show in 2014, but only on this day on “50TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR”. The rhythm section was strengthened by Billy Sherwood and Jay Schellen, and even the originator: Tony Kaye also participated. Moreover, the show combined with rare songs unique to the 50th anniversary was only on this one day in the entire world. The sound that recorded such a show is also wonderful. This show itself was reported on “TOKYO 2019 DAY 3” the other day, but this work is a completely different recording. “TOKYO 2019 DAY 3” was also a masterpiece, but this work is a superb recording that is exquisite. Anyway, it’s fresh and beautiful. There is no mistake in the sound board because there is a lively applause at the opening scene, but it is no wonder that the performance sound itself is mistaken. The thick core with a clear outline reaches straight through, and the fine details are as clear as an FM broadcast. However, if you listen carefully with headphones, you will also notice the faint acoustics of the venue. Moreover, it is wonderful because it does not become cloudy or cloudy. It creates a “raining down” feel to the chorus, which is unique to YES, and gives the instrumental sounds a gloss and shine. Moreover, the balance is excellent. Each instrument is neatly separated, and each one is as thick as a rough rope. The treble extends beautifully, as if there is no ceiling in the venue, and the midrange is as delicate as the touch. And the bass. You can see the line of thumping attack sounds and the delicate vibe creating a groove right before your eyes. This is a live album that depicts a symphonic world in which these elements are delicately intertwined. ●Part 1 (Disc 1) It’s irresistible because it’s the only show in the world with such a sound. The show is composed of two parts + encore as on other days, and the first part concentrates the special feeling of the 50th anniversary. Basically, it follows the previous day’s second day in Tokyo, omitting only “Clap”, which was used to reproduce the “third album”. “Heart of the Sunrise”, which was not performed on the first day of Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo, will also be performed. The “Heart of the Sunrise” and the opening song “Close to the Edge” are classics, but in between these are rare songs. “Parallels” and “Madrigal” from the mid-’70s were played in succession, as well as “Nine Voices” from the ’90s and “We Can Fly” from the 2000s. Above all, I’m happy with “Sweet Dreams” from “Time and Words”. With a breadth that no two songs from the same album can match, it depicts a rich variety of “50th anniversary” feelings. ●Part 2 + Encore (Disc 2) And the second part is finally a reproduction of the long-awaited “Third Album”. The start was the appearance of guest Tony Kaye! Tony’s participation was a key point of this tour, but there were no guests for the first part of the day. It appeared here for the first time. Although it is a scene that gets excited every night, the feeling is especially great when it comes to reenacting the “third album”. Unfortunately, like other performances, there are only two songs “Yours Is No Disgrace” and “Starship Trooper”, but this means that it is the A side of the “third album”. Although it’s not the whole story, it does give a sense of the concept. Alan White will also be joining in on “Starship Trooper.” Another point is, of course, “A Venture”, which will be released for the first time in Japan. Even though he came to Japan with a lot of rare songs, this song was the only one he played on this day. Because it is an album reproduction, you can enjoy the extremely rare songs played with the best sound. “50th Anniversary + Third Album” night was held only once in the world. This is a definitive edition that permanently preserves the most valuable scene with the best sound. Even on the 50th anniversary of his visit to Japan, which received rave reviews, this is a true hit.
