Description
YES is leading the tour as the headliner of the “ROYAL AFFAIR TOUR,” which is stirring up prog rock enthusiasts all over the world. The super best video is now available. This work includes “Bethlehem performance on June 12, 2019”. It is an audience shot that fully records the whole story. I reported on this show the other day in the coupling 4-disc set with ASIA “BETHLEHEM 2019”. There was also a video version included, but YES only had two songs. This work is the complete version of the video. We will leave the overview of “ROYAL AFFAIR TOUR” to the explanation of “WHITE PLAINS 2019” which will be released at the same time, but here we will look back at the position of the show from the activities of YES itself. ●2019・February 4th-9th: CRUISE TO THE EDGE・February 19th-24th: Japan (5 performances) “ROYAL AFFAIR TOUR”・June 12th-July 28th: North America (28 performances) )←★Here★●March 27th – April 1st, 2020: CRUISE TO THE EDGE This is the 2018/2019 schedule that has been announced so far. The performance in Japan in February of this year is still fresh in my memory, but this time’s “ROYAL AFFAIR” will be a “North American” tour immediately after that. This coupling tour will be the main event in 2019, followed by “CRUISE TO THE EDGE” next year. Under such circumstances, the Bethlehem performance of this work was the first concert of “ROYAL AFFAIR”. This work, shot at such a show, is of the highest quality that will make you want to line up the “super” endlessly. Master photography by “Tapehead2”, same as the 4-disc set “BETHLEHEM 2019″ with ASIA. At that time, only “The Gates of Delirium” and “Imagine” were released, but the full show was later released. If you’ve had a taste of the 4-disc set, I’m sure you’ve already made up your mind just by thinking, “That’s the complete version!”, but for those who haven’t experienced it, this video is closer to the left of the stage (more on Howe). It is an audience shot taken diagonally from ), but I do not know the detailed position beyond that angle. After all, you couldn’t see the audience at all, and the entire field of view was occupied only by the stage. Although the audience is not making a fuss, the way they look directly at the audience is on a different level from normal audience shooting, and it is as if they were filming a rehearsal with no audience in attendance. Also, the high quality of the latest digital technology that depicts the stage is overwhelming. Not only each member’s platinum blonde hair is vivid, but even the fibers of the costumes and the weave of the monitor speakers are clear. Screens were set up in various places on the stage, showing colorful CG images, and you could even see the particles of the LEDs. What’s more, it zooms in from that wide field of view. And the sound is also suitable for the spectacular view…it’s amazing because it’s more than just that. The extra-thick core jumps into your ears, giving you no sense of distance, and the details are super clear. The sound from the hall is very faint and can only be noticed by listening carefully with headphones, and it glosses over the exposed PA sound without causing any cloudiness or turbidity. The 4-disc set “BETHLEHEM 2019” was introduced as a shocking live album, but it is a transcendental sound that is worthy of being called “just like a sound board.” The show, which is depicted with such a super-stunning view and super-sound, is an extremely rare set that is currently arousing enthusiasts all over the world. “No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed” from “TIME AND A WORD” jumped out from the opening, and “America” and “Going For The One”, which I couldn’t hear at the recent Japan performance, were on the way. In addition, we have released “Onward” for the first time in a while, “The Gates Of Delirium” for the first time in 18 years (!), and “Rhythm Of Love” for the first time in 15 years. In particular, Alan White was the only one involved in the original of “Rhythm Of Love”, and it is a surprise that no one expected. That Alan is also a point. Most of the show is played by Jay Schellen, but the four songs from “Rhythm Of Love” to the end are switched to Alan. And among those four songs, he also performed John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Of course, Alan was the original drummer for this historical masterpiece. This day is the worldwide premiere for YES, and it is not just a little experiment, but a full performance. Also, GTR’s “Sketches In The Sun” is delicious. This song was dropped in the set only twice, the Bethlehem performance of this work and the next New York performance, and after that it was replaced with Howe’s “Cactus Boogie” and “Clap”. Not only is it rare, but the inclusion of this song means that all 12 songs in this album are selected from different albums. Although it is not in particular chronological order, it is a show that jumps through a long career with each song and sums up the history in total. In any case, the visual beauty is transcendental, and the sound is of a strange dimension. With its quality, “Sketches In The Sun” is also a delicious video work that allows you to experience the first day of “ROYAL AFFAIR TOUR”. This is probably one of the best masterpieces of 2019.
