Description

The “Golden Five” will never be together again. Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, and Alan White. A masterpiece video that lets you experience their final tour in the best possible light has been decided to be released. The five members have come and gone over the course of their long history, but they reunited for the last time in 2002. In the end, they did not leave behind any studio works, but they toured the world on a large scale. This is a good opportunity to look back on their last reunion. {Rick Wakeman joins} ・July-August 2002: North America #1 (26 shows) ・October-December 2002: North America #2 (29 shows) “FULL CIRCLE TOUR” ・June-July 2003: Europe #1 (32 shows) ・September 2003: Japan/Oceania etc. (9 shows) ・October 4th 2003: ARROWFEST 2003 ・January 26th 2004: YES ACOUSTIC *Official footage “35TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR” ・April-May 2004: North America #3 (18 shows) *Official footage ・June-July 2004: Europe #2 (23 shows) ・August-September 2004: North America #4 (23 shows) ←★Here★ {John & Rick leave} And so it is. Among them, the one included in this work is the “September 11, 2004 Colorado performance”. It was the final performance, the 17th performance of the last “North America # 4”. This work, which contains such a Colorado performance, is a beautiful audience shot that is worthy of being called “visual beauty”. It was shot from the second floor seats (balcony seats?) behind the audience seats, but it is not a look down. Just at the same eye level as the members, looking directly at the stage far above the first floor arena seats. And it was the front row of the second floor seats, so there was no room at all for the heads and arms of the front row, and it was a perfect angle for the “golden five” to occupy the screen. And the view is really beautiful. In the era of 2004, it is unclear whether it is analog or digital, but this work was probably shot digitally. The stage is drawn so vividly that it can only be thought of as such. If you pull back as much as you can, there is a considerable distance from the stage, but when you zoom in, it is so beautiful that you forget that fact. Especially at the beginning, the view is mainly from a distance, and you can fully enjoy the fantastic stage set. Of course, the view is only from a distance at the beginning. The photographer, who has grasped the state of the stage, challenges himself to bold zoom as the show progresses. He attacks the highlights with a lot of force. What is surprising again there is the sense of stability. Perhaps he is using a tripod, there is no camera shake even with super zoom. I wrote “Audience Shot” earlier, but the position directly facing the stage and the excellent stability make it almost as impressive as a venue-mounted camera. The “last golden five” depicted with that quality are heartwarming. The best set and performance celebrating the 35th anniversary do not show the word “last”, and the acoustic set in the second half of the show, which was the highlight, was also peaceful and beautiful. The official video “SONGS FROM TSONGAS” has also been released from this tour, but you can enjoy “America”, “Clap”, and “Awaken” that were not seen there. John and Rick left this tour at the end. Now, together with Trevor Rabin, they are going to play YES music again in Japan. This is a dazzling masterpiece video, especially in the “now” of 2017.
