Description
“8-man YES” embodied the dreams of progressive fans, while its existence itself was a grand experiment. A special edition of the representative video, the Japanese broadcast pro shot, is here. This work was filmed at the “May 9, 1991 Denver performance”. This is a multi-camera pro shot. Speaking of pro shots of “UNION TOUR”, the Mountain View performance, also known as the official work “UNION LIVE”, is the symbol, but the Denver performance is second to it. It has also been made official as a bonus DVD for the limited edition of “UNION LIVE”, and the broadcast version “DENVER 1991” was very well received at our store. This work is also the same Denver performance, but the contents are completely different. It is a different edited version with completely different angles popping out one after another. Before the interesting content, let’s start with the position of the show. Let’s look back on the whole picture of the world tour of the century, along with the symbolic Mountain View performance. 1991, April 9-29: North America #1a (16 performances) {“Crystal” released on April 30} ・May 3-21: North America #1b (15 performances) ←★here★ ・May 29-June 30: Europe (20 performances) ・July 5-August 8: North America #2 (28 performances) ←※Official “UNION LIVE” 1992, February 29-March 5: Japan (5 performances) {8-person YES dismantled} This is the real image of the “8-person YES” that existed in 1991/1992. The official “UNION LIVE” was also an American performance, but the time was quite different. The Denver performance of this work was the sixth performance of “North America #1b”, which was just after the release of the album “Crystal”. Now, on to the main topic. The full professional shot of this show that was broadcast on television has become a big standard, but a different edited version was broadcast as a special program “‘ROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DATES” on a certain satellite broadcasting station. This work is a DVD version of that other broadcast version. And this broadcast was also called a “mysterious treasure” in some parts. The reason is the content. The place name and time were not mentioned in the program, but even people who knew the Denver professional shot had never seen it. If you compare the two broadcasts closely, you will see that it is the same performance and the same cuts come out, but it is only a little. Usually, even if it is a different edited professional shot, the timing of the switching is different and an unpublished angle is inserted a little, but this broadcast is completely different. I did not measure the time, but about 3/4 of it is a different angle by feeling. It was a “different work” so much that it would not be strange if there were a maniac who was excited and said, “Isn’t it Denver!?” “Is it the third professional shot?” This work is a DVD version of that version, but another point is the quality. As was the case with our “DENVER 1991”, it was difficult to say that the Denver Pro Shots up to now were of the highest quality in terms of image quality. However, this work can be proudly declared to be “completely official class!” As always, it has been digitized directly from the finest master by a core record enthusiast, but the clear image quality and freshness in every corner are as beautiful as if they were created from an official laser disc. The only disappointing thing was the recording time. Although the broadcast was recorded without missing anything, the broadcast frame itself was short at about 1 hour and 25 minutes, and it was not a full show. If this were a completely different performance from Denver, the story would be different, but if there was a complete version of the same show that lasted more than 2 hours and 40 minutes, even if it was from a different angle… Anyway, there is no doubt that this work is the highest quality pro shot after the official work “UNION LIVE”. Although it is short, 1 hour and 25 minutes is normally a full live size, and the completeness of the separate editing and the super high quality visual beauty go beyond “DENVER 1991”. Originally, this work should have been the highlight of the official box “UNION 30 LIVE”. Such a great masterpiece pro shot. Multi-camera pro shot of “May 9, 1991 Denver performance”. TV broadcast pro shots have been a big staple of the show, but this work is a different edited version in which completely different angles pop out one after another. The difference is not a half, and the same angle is only a little. It is a different work with about 3/4 different angles by physical sensation. Moreover, the video quality is completely official class. 1 hour and 25 minutes of impressions are more than enough. It is a great masterpiece with all the editing quality, visual beauty, and preciousness. McNichols Sports Arena, Denver, CO, USA 9th May 1991 PRO-SHOT (85:26) 1. Intro. 2. Yours Is No Disgrace 3.
