Description
A masterpiece by Mike Millard, a master of rock recording history, is back with a new look. This work contains the “Inglewood performance on October 6, 1978”. The 2CD “L.A. FORUM 1978 1ST NIGHT” will also be released, but this work is its sister work. The first day of the two consecutive Inglewood performances. This work is the next day. This work is a wonderful audience sound, as expected from Millard recording. It is true that the direct feeling and clarity are one step behind compared to the first day’s “L.A. FORUM 1978 1ST NIGHT”, but that is because that masterpiece is a special transcendent sound even in the Millard collection. In fact, the impact when this recording was released was tremendous. It was released about 15 years ago as “WINGS OF FREEDOM”, and the specialist magazines at the time also praised it highly. To quote a little bit… “Among the many Yes works, a shocking work has finally been released,” “It is outstanding as an audience recording recorded on a cassette recorder in the 1970s,” “The fact that you can hear it with this volume means that you were seated quite far forward and right in front of the speakers,” “You can clearly hear each and every sound of each member, which would normally be buried in the surrounding sounds,” etc. It was filled with praise that was as full as a manufacturer’s information (lol). As if to back up that review, it became a very popular title that sold out immediately no matter how many times it was re-released (on the other hand, it shows how amazing “L.A. FORUM 1978 1ST NIGHT” is, which exceeds such a masterpiece…). This work is a reprint of such a masterpiece. Although it has been re-digitized from the master at that time, there is almost no difference musically. We tried the latest and most meticulous mastering, but there was no way to change it. Of course, it is easy to force the sound pressure to increase the dynamics, but that is blasphemy. This was the best sound to make the most of the original sound. The “TORMATO TOUR” depicted by that sound is the world of YES music, which is amazing. Not only are there many performances that could only be made at that time, such as the new songs of “TORMATO” and “THE BIG MEDLEY” commemorating the 10th anniversary of the formation, but the performance itself is also wonderful. The ensemble of the “golden five” has reached its peak, and the combination of the whole does not collapse even if each person plays freely. Especially wonderful is Rick Wakeman. He was vigorously praised in the specialist magazine as “Rick’s performance in his prime”, and he rocks magnificently in “Awaken” and hotly in “On The Silent Wings Of Freedom”. Of course, the other four are also in top form. It’s not just symphonic, it’s not just rock. Each person’s talent shows various aspects, and their brilliance is combined and intersected, making it a show that sparkles like a diamond cut. The sister album “L.A. FORUM 1978 1ST NIGHT” is a special edition of the Mirrored Collection. Now that such a monumental excavation has been realized, we would like you to experience the masterpiece Mirrored recording from the next day. This is a new release with that thought in mind. This is a masterpiece among masterpieces that has continued to convey the charm of the core of the “TORMATO TOUR” that has not been conveyed even officially. We hope you will enjoy it together with Live at Forum, Inglewood, CA. USA 6th October 1978 PERFECT SOUND “L.A. FORUM 1978 1ST NIGHT”. Disc 1(72:48) 1. The Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra 2.
