Description
The iconic recording from the “GOING FOR THE ONE Tour,” beloved by the legendary Mike Millard, has been polished up. It’s now available as an upgraded 2CD set with the longest and highest quality sound to date. This release captures the “Long Beach performance on September 26, 1977,” a superb audience recording. This show is most famous for the excellent recording made by Millard. The legendary musician deeply loved YES and Rick Wakeman, and recorded the “GOING FOR THE ONE Tour” many times. This particular recording is known as a masterpiece in the Millard collection, and this release is the highest quality version ever, polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” from the original master. Before diving into the content, let’s first look at the show’s position in history. Let’s take a look at the tour overview at the time, while also reviewing Millard’s other works. 《July 15th Release of “Ultimate”》・July 30th – September 3rd: North America #1 (32 shows)・September 17th – October 9th: North America #2 (21 shows) ←★HERE★・October 24th – November 8th: UK (12 shows)・November 11th – December 6th: Europe (22 shows) This was YES in 1977. With Rick’s return, the “golden five” were reunited and they embarked on a massive world tour. The structure was roughly “first half = North America / second half = Europe,” and Millard recorded “North America #2” many times. Let’s focus on the dates further and check out the Millard Collection. Details of “North America #2” – September 17th-22nd (6 shows) *September 23rd: “L.A. FORUM 1977 1ST NIGHT” *September 24th: “L.A. FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT” – September 25th: San Diego show *September 26th: Long Beach show ←★This album★ – September 27th-October 9th (12 shows) A complete live album that sets a new record for the longest run ever, recorded by Wizard…and so on. Millard recorded three shows intensively during this period, and this album is the Long Beach show from the third day. Along with “L.A. FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT,” this album has also been loved as a masterpiece recording that represents Millard’s YES collection. This album is a remastering of that historically significant recording by “GRAF ZEPPELIN.” It has been polished again after returning to the original master. The biggest point is that it is the longest run ever, made possible by making full use of separate recordings. Even Millard’s original master tape had unavoidable gaps due to tape changes, resulting in recording omissions after performances of “Colours of the Rainbow,” “And You and I,” and “Awaken.” Of course, being an absolute master, the sound was suppressed during the interludes between songs, but as this was a historical tour recording, it resulted in a complete album including the interludes. Moreover, the supplementary audio is no ordinary material. On this day, John Wizard, another historically renowned master, was also present, competing with Millard in his recording. This is also a beloved item in our store, known as “LONG BEACH ARENA 1977: JON WIZARDO MASTER CASSETTE TAPE,” but this release uses that famous recording as a patch. This collaboration between recordings of historical masters has resulted in the longest album to date. The level of perfection has been updated with Graf Zeppelin’s meticulous mastering. Of course, the sound itself that permeates the entire album is also the best it has ever been. As it is a Millard recording, it is not a change so drastic that it is “like a completely different album,” but it is undoubtedly the best version currently available. GRAF ZEPPELIN’s mastering philosophy is to recreate the live sound by employing every possible technique, including pitch correction that doesn’t tolerate even a 1/1000th of a second deviation, various noise reduction methods, and balance correction after bandwidth analysis. This work also showcases their expertise, but what was particularly effective this time was the phase correction. The slightly biased positioning that was present before has been more precisely adjusted, resulting in an even more solid and stable sound. They identified the upgrade points that remained even in the highly acclaimed masters of the Absolute Master Collection and finished them precisely. This work is a masterpiece that stands at a new height only GRAF ZEPPELIN could achieve with their obsessive precision. GRAF ZEPPELIN has elevated the pinnacle of the famous recordings from Mike Millard’s beloved “GOING FOR THE ONE Tour,” and with John Wizard’s recording, it has become the longest full live album to date. A superb audience recording of the “Long Beach performance on September 26, 1977.” This is a top-of-the-line, updated version of the original master recording by the absolute master Mike Millard, polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN.” Utilizing recordings by John Wizard from the same day, this new definitive edition is the longest recording to date.
