Description

In the latter half of 1974, the film “Tommy” was shot, and live performances were very fragmented. The concerts themselves were six in France in February, two in the UK at Charlton and Guilford in May, and four at Madison Square Garden in New York in June, and live performances for that year were completed. The WHO’s 1974 festival in Charlton is famous, and there are many titles ranging from TV broadcasts to leaked professional shots. However, although all of the four MSG days in June had been distributed among underground traders before, they had never been released at all, perhaps due to quality issues. This edition records the performance on the second day of MSG on June 11th in a super high-quality stereo audience recording of 1 hour and 44 minutes, which has appeared via the Internet in recent years and boasts astonishing sound quality. The tape master of taper Jerry Moore was directly digitized (apparently). The sound image is clear and stable, the sound is wide and glossy, and the sound is clear and punchy. It’s truly amazing quality. There is a subtle sense of distance that is unique to a large venue, but the sound balance is very good, and there is no muffled sound, which is hard to believe for an MSG recording. If you try playing the intro to Baba O’Riley on the fifth track, you will be convinced, but this is a completely high-grade recording. The direct sound image will continue to fascinate not only WHO fans, but many 70’s rock collectors as well. What’s amazing is that the songs are almost uncut, and especially disc 1 is recorded without any cuts except for a few cuts at around 6 minutes 45 seconds of Won’t Get Fooled Again, and fans who have not heard it before will be very surprised by this extraordinary quality, which convinces them that it is a rare sound source but a low generation. Disc 2 is My Generation/My Generation Blues, which closes the main set, and The Punk And The Godfather and Drowned, which are encores, and the sound image is recorded without any blurring until the very end. In particular, The Punk And The Godfather has been performed several times this year, but there is no sound source that is satisfactory in terms of sound quality, and this is the valuable 1974 performance version that can be heard for the first time on this board. A new standard will be added to the 1974 MSG performance, which was a blank for WHO sound source collectors. Live at Madison Square Garden, New York, USA 11th June 1974 TRULY AMAZING SOUND Disc 1 1.
