Description
“MAGIC BUS” is an ancient compilation album produced in the 60’s. It will be released in an original CD format, packed with rare alternate versions known only to those in the know. “MAGIC BUS” is a best-of album produced for the first time in the US in 1968. The official title is “MAGIC BUS: THE WHO ON TOUR”, which sounds like a live album, but this was named in reference to the first US tour in 1967. The contents were all studio recorded, and it was a rare track that included not only album tracks but also a large number of B-side tracks from various singles. When it was reissued in 1988, it was also officially released on CD, and since then, the rarity of the songs has decreased with the expansion of various compilations. Now it has become an item that is valuable only for its existence as a record…or so it should have been. However, that was not the case. It’s true that the original 1968 LP and the remastered CD reissues from the 2000s are valued more as physical objects, but the original CD “MCAD-31333” released in 1988 still contains tracks that can only be heard here, and attracts the envy of hardcore collectors. This work is an intricate reproduction of the original CD “MCAD-31333”. So, what tracks are rare? First of all, the biggest point is the highlight song “Magic Bus”, which is also the title. It’s a rare “original stereo version”… but when I say it, it may be hard to understand. Let me explain it step by step. There are different versions of this song: (A) 1968: Original single version (mono) (B) 1968: Version included in MAGIC BUS (stereo) ←★This★ (C) 1971: Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy version (alternate vocals/pseudo stereo) (D) 1984: The Who Singles version (longer version of C) (E) 2000; The Kids Are Alright version (mono/remix) (F) 2007; MAGIC BUS reissue (alternate vocals/alternate composition/pseudo stereo) (G) 2014; The Who Hits 50! version (mono version of C)… and so on. Apparently the source of the original version could not be found when “C” was produced, so although it is a longer version, it is a pseudo-stereo version with alternate vocals. After that, various small versions were recorded, but they were different from the true original stereo version “B”. “B” was recorded on “MAGIC BUS” in 1968, and was only digitized on the original CD version in 1988. In other words, that is this work. Although it has become long with only one track, this work does not stop there. Other songs have “pseudo stereo version” that is delicious. In the first place, the original “MAGIC BUS” in 1968 had a stereo version and a mono version, but the stereo version did not have all the songs, and the original specification was “stereo (4 songs) + mono (7 songs)”. This was changed from “mono (7 songs)” to “pseudo stereo” when it was made into a CD in 1988. In other words, it is the pseudo stereo version of “Disguises”, “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde”, “Call Me Lightning”, “Someone’s Coming”, “Doctor, Doctor”, “Bucket T.”, and “Pictures of Lily” recorded in this work. When it comes to THE WHO’s original CDs, sound quality tends to be the main point, but this work is different. “Magic Bus” can be enjoyed in stereo in its original take, and seven rare pseudo-stereo versions. This is a CD packed with precious alternative versions that you can’t hear on other CDs. Even if you check carefully, these are treasures that tend to be overlooked. The original CD version of a famous compilation produced in the 60s has been released.
