Description

This week, we will deliver a clear audience source recorded from the genuine first generation cassette master recently uploaded on the Internet from the last large-scale tour that The Who, with Keith Moon, performed in Jacksonville, Florida, USA on August 7, 1976, in the heyday of his last live tour. This sound source is a master recorded with the high-end equipment Nakamichi CR-7 in the JEMS sound source list that has been stocked for 20 years, uploaded for the first time in 41 years. Unfortunately, the recording microphone was mono, but even so, the sound quality is amazing and convincing as JEMS. What’s more, it is noteworthy that this first generation master has been further upgraded by our own mastering. In the net master, the pitch, which was 50 to 70% higher due to aging, has been properly adjusted. In addition, the sound pressure (volume) in the latter half of the master was lower than the first half, which was balanced. In addition, the blank part of Amazing Journey, which was missing at 1:13, has been properly filled in to eliminate any sense of incongruity. It is an easy-to-obtain netmaster, but as I always say, the title we will release is a true upgraded version in which our engineers have completely eliminated pitch errors and other defects. Now, let’s take a look at how this concert was positioned for The Who in their heyday with Keith Moon. ・February 27th to March 2nd, 1976: First Short European Tour ・March 9th to April 1st, 1976: First North American Tour ・May 22nd to June 12th, 1976: Second Short European Tour ・August 3rd to August 8th, 1976: Second North American Tour ←★Here★ ・October 6th to October 21st, 1976: Third North American Tour You can see that 1976 was a year of extensive tours that covered the main markets of Europe and North America twice and three times. Among them, this concert was at the end of the tour. This tour was started in the previous year to promote the album “WHO BY NUMBERS” released on October 3rd of the previous year. At the end of the tour, Slip Kid from the album was included in the set, but the performance of this song was somewhat awkward, so they removed it and replaced it with the single number Squeeze Box and Dreaming From the Waist, which includes a thrilling instrumental part unique to The Who, and fixed it as the set for this day. However, only two new songs were included in the set, and the rest of the set included representative songs from all eras that culminated The Who’s history. The first half featured early hits and representative songs from the masterpiece album “WHO’S NEXT”, and the second half featured a brilliantly composed excerpt from the classic rock opera “TOMMY”, which closed with a specialty that would silence even crying children. This was the regular set of this tour, and they followed that pattern on this day as well, presenting a stage that undoubtedly showed the dignity of a champion. Unfortunately, only the intro of the last performance, Won’t Get Fooled Again, was recorded, but you can see how thrilling The Who was in the Keith Moon era on this stage. John Entwistle said that this day was the best of the tour, and it was clear that it was such an impressive performance for him. The source of this day had been available in the existing sound source, but JEMS said that it was “sound quality like broadcast on AM radio”, and although the master this time is completely different, the sound quality of this master is evaluated as being much better. Although it is a mono recording, the separation and spread of each instrument and vocal is good, and the clear sound quality is as expected from JEMS. The sound quality is as if you are listening to a high-quality soundboard source. The sound quality, which allows you to clearly hear Moon’s bass drum, which is very busy, will surely satisfy fans of The Who. Moreover, only this board can be heard at normal pitch. The excellent first generation master of the Jacksonville performance of the new master, which had never seen the light of day before, has finally taken off its veil. Moreover, only our main board has achieved further upgrades. Live at Gator Bowl, Jacksonville, FL. USA 7th August 1976 Disc 1 (42:42) 1. Intro 2. I Can’t Explain 3. Substitute 4. My Wife 5.
