Description

WHITESNAKE’s first sound source from Japan will appear from the label that continues to create a sensation among all rare sound source collectors! From the first tour to Japan in 1980, the performance at Nakano Sunplaza on April 14th, the second day in Tokyo, is recorded on CD2 based on the ultra-high-quality audience master recorded by Miracle Man for the first time. Released as a set! The truth about WHITESNAKE’s first visit to Japan, which still has many unknown points, will be revealed in this gem of a recording! After the dissolution of DEEP PURPLE, David Coverdale started his full-fledged activities as WHITESNAKE in 1978 after a short period of solo activities. When Jon Lord joined for the first album “TROUBLE”, and after the production of “LOVEHUNTER” in 1979, Ian Paice was also acquired, and WHITESNAKE reached the time of its breakthrough as a band. The first step in that leap forward was their first performance in Japan in April 1980. They began work on their third full-length album, “READY AN’ WILLING,” from late 1979 to early 1980, when the European tour for “LOVEHUNTER” had finished. After the album was finished, on April 2nd, we performed a one-off special gig (included in “AT RAINBOW 1980”) that also served as a warm-up at London’s “Rainbow Theater” to get ourselves in shape, and then it was finally April 11th. They then embarked on a 10-day Japan tour. They will perform at Postal Savings Hall in Tokyo on the 11th, Nagoya on the 12th, and then perform at Nakano Sunplaza on the 14th and 15th. In this work, you can enjoy the best live recording of the 14th (second day in Tokyo). Although it exists, the performance and MC you can hear here are completely different. This recording is definitely made on the 14th due to the existence of tickets and records.) The rule that “Nakano Sunplaza” x “Miracle Man” = the best live recording is still alive and well in this work! At this time, Miracle Man was located in the front row (1st floor, row 0, number 62) and was recording the musical sounds coming from the stage. The heat and atmosphere that enveloped the venue was vivid, and the sound packaged with outstanding brightness and clarity was nothing short of overwhelming this time as well. The intro creates a mood that makes even the sound check unbearable, vividly conveying the excitement that the long-awaited live show is about to begin. The sound image captures the musical tones on stage with an ideal balance and direct feeling, making you listen to the performance with maximum ease of listening from the opening “Come On” and “You ‘n’ Me” (no unnecessary There are almost no scenes where the cheers interrupt the performance, and the sound image is truly like a line)! Coverdale’s vocals are endlessly passionate, and Barney and Mickey’s twin leads create exquisite harmony. Furthermore, “maestro” John Lord’s organ, which blends into the ensemble, is truly the royal road to British hard rock. Pace and Neil Murray’s artisanal rhythms give the songs a swinging feel. No matter how many times you listen to “Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues,” these things work together perfectly, you will never get tired of listening to it! The band’s anthem “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City” is the first highlight. The 7 minutes of the performance, filled with a great mood, in the solemn atmosphere that fills the venue, is the best. The audience seemed to be nervous as they listened to the band’s play, and at this point, the listeners would feel like Taper’s Miracle Man, holding their breath as they listened! However, with “Lovehunter,” which featured Mickey Moody’s unique slide guitar, the venue took a turn and the venue became lively and filled with a fun atmosphere. And the PURPLE number “Mistreated” that Japanese fans have been waiting for is the most exciting and moving song of the day! Coverdale’s deep voice, which squeezes out the soul, shakes the listener with the persuasive power and charm unique to the lyricist. You can understand from the sound that the fans in the venue were completely knocked out by their singing, which was different from Ronnie from RAINBOW! John and Pace’s solos that can be heard in the middle of the live, and the jam instrumental “Belgian Tom’s Hat Trick” are only worth listening to at that time. In particular, John will perform solos that include “Child In Time,” “Black Night,” and “Smoke On The Water,” which also incorporates the second period PURPLE number, greatly delighting the venue and listeners. The live performance finally entered the climax from “Might Just Take Your Life” at the beginning of Disc 2. The band’s groove and passionate performances, such as “Lie Down” which has an outstanding groove and “Take Me With You” which is hard and active, send the whole audience into a whirlpool of excitement. It seems that the fans at the venue were completely overcome with excitement, and during the encore “Rock Me Baby”, the fans were rushing to the front. Coverdale even MCed this, saying, “Be careful, stay back. It’s dangerous. OK!?” At the end, the up-tempo “Breakdown” slides into “Whitesnake Boogie,” bringing the 105-minute live to a close with great excitement. The last song “We Wish You Well” fades out in less than 30 seconds, but the clear sound of this recording is consistent until this ending, making you relive the live performance at its best! Although a large number of sound sources have been released since WHITESNAKE’s first visit to Japan in 1980, there are also many confusing records, and the truth of Tokyo 5 Dyas is not completely clear. However, with the best live recording left by Miracle Man along with the ticket for the day, the verification of this first visit to Japan will be a big step forward. Even as pure entertainment, this recording is definitely an item of the highest quality. They will excite the listeners without any logic and make you feel intoxicated by the passionate live performance until the last moment!
