Whitesnake/Switzerland 1997

This is a complete recording of the performance in Bern, Switzerland on October 24th, from the final tour at this point in time for “Restless Heart”, which was called The Last Hurrah Tour in 1997, with a high-quality audience. As a farewell tour to the fans who had supported the band for many years, the performance was rich in variety, mixing old and new songs. The opening was Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues, which symbolizes the golden age from 1981 to 1983, and in the first half, they played Ready An’ Willing with the riff from Hit & Run intro, revived Love Hunter for the first time in a long time, and forcibly played a medley with Slow An’ Easy, which surprised fans at the time. This is an original set only for this tour. In addition to Coverdale’s right-hand man Vandenberg, the other guitarist is Steve Farris, formerly of Mr. Mister, and the rhythm section is made up of Denny Carmassi and Tony Franklin, formerly of Firm, Blue Murder. Although it seems like a hastily assembled band, each member’s playing ability and the sound are excellent, and they perform great throughout the album. Other highlights include Tony’s impressive bass solo in Ready An’ Willing and the nearly 6-minute instrumental number Oi, which was also included as a bonus on “Restless Heart” and shows off the members’ skills. Furthermore, the album tracks You’re So Fine, Too Many Tears, and Restless Heart are very valuable takes, considering that they will probably never be performed live again. And in the second half of the show, instead of a medley, they played each song individually, so it was more enjoyable to listen to, and even Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City, Don’t Break My Heart Again, and Fool For Your Loving and Here I Go Again were arranged and performed with respect for the antique tone of the organ and the original speed.
