Description

This is a complete master quality audience recording of the Yokohama Arena performance on September 19th, the first day of the 1990 Japan tour for “Slip Of The Tongue”. This is a must-listen album that uses the original master cassette directly, and not only the songs from “Slip Of The Tongue”, which featured Steve Vai, which became a controversial album, but also Vai’s technical playing that can be heard throughout is a great listen. Aside from the heavy and classical Judgment Day, songs such as the pop Kittens Got Claws, where Vai’s playing in the intro is a must-listen, and the LA metal-like Cheap An’ Nasty are also different, but the positive and powerful performances are still worth listening to. Adrian’s classical solos full of European taste that can be heard on the numbers “Slide It In” and “1987” are also great, but Vai also shows off his amazing super playing here, blowing away every moment. And the highlight of the second half is Vai’s nearly 10-minute solo time, introduced by Coverdale as “Mr Passion & Warfare.” The audience was stunned by the mix of technical and entertaining playing. Then, in the second half of Bad Boys, Vai appeared with his familiar heart-shaped twin-neck guitar, and the audience roared. The last song was the big song Still Of The Night, and David also gave a sincere MC to the audience. In any case, it can be said that the live performance was completely in Vai mode, but on the other hand, Vandenberg’s straightforward playing captivated the audience, and Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge’s strong rhythm were also wonderful, and the first day of the 1990 Japan tour, which made a strong impact, was completely reproduced here!
