Description
A 2-disc set that will astound hardcore fans around the world, featuring rare live performances of early WHITENSNAKE recorded from a high-quality master cassette! First of all, (Disc 1) features the band’s seventh live performance at the Rafters Club in Manchester on March 21, 1978, recorded almost completely with amazingly high quality sound. Only four songs from this day were recorded on the previously released “NORTHWINDS IN ALKMAR,” but the sound quality of this version is incomparably better, and you can once again recognize the greatness of the master quality. This take starts with Bernie’s voice, who appears alone on stage in front of the audience and asks, “Am I the only one?”. Following David’s roar and the rough sound of the band, Coverdale’s first solo “White Snake” starts off with a spectacular “Lady,” the first song on the album. Anyway, this sound quality, the club-like mood, the sound image with a raw texture that kicks away poor soundboards, etc. is the best sound, and it reproduces the atmosphere of the place. The second song is the DEEP PURPLE number “Lady Luck” that explodes. This is the masterpiece “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City” that convinces you that this song was WHITESNAKE. The intense early snake version of “Mistreated” that starts with the MC “From the album “BURN”” is also worth listening to. Next is the purple classic “Lady Double Dealer”! The middle part includes a break and twin lead that are not in the original, and the second half also features a nice keyboard solo by Brian Johnston. The ending twin lead is also the best, and it is one of the biggest listening points of this title. The dynamic groove of the early ending number “Breakdown” is unique to this period. Coverdale’s performance of purely enjoying rock and roll songs with his new band may be the best performance of his career. The encore is “Rock Me Bay” and the cover song “Going Down”. It’s still fresh in my memory that “It’s been a long fuckin’ time…”, which was recorded in London, was greeted with amazement by enthusiasts all over the world, but this time the sound quality and perfection exceeds that. The loud cheers and the club DJ’s excited screams of “What a great band! We’re knocked out! WHITESNAKE!!!!!!” after the stage ended tell the great success of this show. (Disc 2) is a high-quality recording of the second period of WHITESNAKE, which took place four months after the Manchester performance mentioned above, after the keyboard player was replaced by PETE DOWNEY from BRIAN JOHNSTON, at the Lyceum in London on July 9, 1978. This take also uses the master cassette, which is completely new, and records the main live performance up to the encore with excellent sound quality. WHITESNAKE, who released SNAKEBITE EP in April of the same year and recorded their first album “TROUBLE” in June, will hold a legendary one-off live performance at the Lyceum in London on this day. Following the opening number “Come On”, which symbolizes their golden age, they will play the purple number “Lady Luck”. With detailed arrangements in various places, you can see that they have transformed into a larger-scale, high-grade hard rock band. The third song “Bloody Mary” will be performed live for the first time on this night. The light rock and roll song that symbolizes their early days symbolizes the path they should take (this song is slightly scratchy). Coverdale sings with such a tremendous voice that it seems a little too powerful, and there are parts where his vocals make it difficult to hear the backing band’s performance. It’s a shame that they didn’t get an encore, but the sound quality and performance are both excellent and it’s a must-have for fans!
