Description

The 1981 Japan tour, held at the Fumonkan in Tokyo on June 7th, was recorded in 2 hours and 26 minutes, from the original audience master owned by Taper, with good quality for the time. First of all, this visit to Japan was just before Jaco left the band, and it was a large-scale tour with 9 performances in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo, reflecting the popularity of the time. However, there are very few recordings left, making this a valuable live recording. And while there are many things to listen to throughout the album, the most amazing part is the band ensemble and improvisation that lasts for over 30 minutes from Jaco’s bass solo to “It’s About That Time,” which was not played much on stage, so it is also rare. In addition, the familiar duo exchange between Shorter and Zawinul, which develops into “Remark You Made” and “Rockin’ In Rhythm,” and the climax of the performance are unique to this period. A must-listen limited collector’s edition for all jazz fans. Disc 1: 1. Fast City 2. Madagascar 3.Current Affairs 4. Night Passage Disc 2: 1. Jaco’s Bass Solo (incl.Continium) 2. It’s About That Time 3. Speachless Disc 3: 1. N.Y.C 2. Saxophone Solo/Saxophone & Keyboard Duo 3. Remark You Made/Rockin In Rhythm 4. ums & Percussion Duo 5. Volcano Far Hire 6.
