Description

“LIVE AID” is the biggest music event of the 20th century, which has been introduced in numerous live albums and video titles. Approximately 15 hours of live broadcasting took place here in Japan. A transcendental series that has made the complete master version into DVD has been decided to be released! [Second volume that includes 3 + 4 complete recording masters] This work is the second volume of the master series that completely records the entire 15-hour live broadcast. Studio talks and commercials were also digitized from eight vacuum-packed VHS tapes into one DVD. We will be releasing a full set of 2 discs x 4 titles, but this work is a 2 disc set that includes 2 of them, “VOL.3 & 4”. What time period was this part? Let’s organize by the performing artists/bands you’re interested in. [DISC 1: VOL.3] AUTOGRAPH satellite broadcast) ○0:08/Bryan Ferry (with Dave Gilmore)★0:29/JUDAS PRIEST ○0:40/Paul Young★1:01/Bryan Adams ○1:19/U2 ★1:39/THE BEACH BOYS [DISC 2: VOL.4] ○2:00/DIRE STRAITS ○2:41/QUEEN ★3:05/SIMPLE MINDS ○3:23/David Bowie ★3:41/PRETENDERS Note: “○” is Wembley Stadium in the UK, “★” is JFK Stadium in the US. The numbers are the start times of the show, Japan time. *However, there is a discrepancy between Japanese broadcasting and local broadcasting, and in Japan it is approximately “DISC 1 = 1:00-3:00” and “DISC 2 = 3:00-5:00″. [Enjoy the feeling of live broadcasting late at night in real time] …and it looks like this. Four hours of midnight were recorded, from 1 a.m. when the date changed to 5 a.m. when the sky turned white. We have already introduced the live content and the fun of Nippon Broadcasting’s unique subtitles and simultaneous interpretation many times in previous works. Of course, this work also includes a complete recording of such live scenes, but here we will focus on the real-time feeling that includes studio talks and commercials. In “VOL.1 & 2,” there was an overwhelming sense of urgency that reflected the anger of Western music fans, but by late night, perhaps the viewers had started to sleep or had given up, but the brutality subsided and it became more relaxing. This brings out the feeling of a charity program. While repeatedly pointing out the charity number, he said, “It seems that there are over 100 incorrect calls being made to the hospital.Emergency cases are being disrupted, so please be sure to dial the correct number.” The studio talk is also filled with words of praise for Tiriti rather than explanations and love for Western music, and the music-related discussions do not go deep. For example, ○suke Kuwata suddenly says, “Isn’t it amazing that BLACK SABBATH is appearing in a space broadcast,” but he just ignores it. The way he talks about Sabbath is amazing, so I want him to talk more about it… Also, La*dones is kind of interesting. They are powerfully introduced with things like “We’re going on a US tour!” and “MSG 2 days sold out!”, but they don’t talk about the fact that it’s the opening act for MOTLEY CRUE. Speaking of charity, it’s broadcasting. This program is being viewed live not only at the studio of a commercial broadcast station, but also at affiliated radio stations, Shinjuku Alta, Yoyogi Park, and the parking lot of a family restaurant (Nandeyanen), to show that “It’s exciting here too!” During the program, he asked, “If you want to perform, please come!” and interviewed ordinary amateurs. They made vague comments, and the question “Who would you like to see?” revealed the chaotic situation at the time, with answers such as “Duran Duran and the Beatles” and “someone named Sada○shi.” Furthermore, it begins to rain, the night begins to fall… and it is a strange document. I’m totally in the mood for a full-day program where love saves the earth. [A sense of the times in the commercials that are aired alternately with live shows] The commercials that air between talks and live performances are also a must-see. This has a real sense of the times. Even those who have already passed away and entertainers whose appearance has completely changed, still look youthful. Seiko Matsuda played with an anime penguin, Momoko Kiku○, who recorded more attendance at the Budokan than the Beatles, took a shower, and Maya Kobayashi announced her single “Chiffon no Whisper” with a sexy expression. Girls’ squad appears in the juice commercial… Of course, it wasn’t just Japanese people, the first James Bond promoted ham, and Janet Jackson, who was still a teenager, and Masaru Nakamura danced together. The two members of WHAM! are also dancing in the cassette tape commercial. Even in commercials where you can’t see her, you can’t get over it. Freddie Mercury’s “I Was Born To Love You” plays in cosmetics commercials, and even in commercials full of image cuts, music by Art of Noise, Tommy Shaw, and Beth Andersen plays. The best part is the soft drink commercial. Surprisingly, Ringo Starr, who was 35 years old (!) at the time, appeared and said with a smile, “Masani, Soft drink.” You can watch the very valuable commercials in the highest quality. It’s not just music related. Movies such as “The Burmese Harp,” “Early Spring Story,” and “The Second Generation is a Christian” are promoted, and soft drink commercials feature falling bottles reminiscent of the movie “The Bushman.” Commercials for cigarettes, which are now extinct, often air, commercials have been made for “palm-sized binoculars” that can now be sold at 100 yen stores, and juices are sold in thin steel cans. There’s a Sunday discount on phone charges, and we’re running Tsukuba Expo. The relationship with things is even more intense, with personal computers boasting “multifunctionality,” “8-octave sextad chords,” and “512 colors to choose from,” as well as “a system for displaying photos on a TV using a video floppy,” “Card reservation video,” and “Worldwide.” It also boasts of mysterious equipment and functions such as the first jet turbo. The price of the “Hi-Fi Mac Road” was 190,000 yen… This is “1985”. It was just a nuisance at the time, and it’s still a nuisance when you look at it now. However, the sense of the times is completely different with and without this. The commercials that irritated me at the time were also pieces of the puzzle. It instantly hooks you and brings back “July 14, 1985”. Unfortunately, even in this second edition, performances by Japanese artists (Rats & ○tar “WHAT’S GOING ON”, Safety○ Obi “Sayonara to Sadness”, Hound○Dog “BAD BOY BLUES”, An○○ “16 Beat”, Sugiyama Kiyoshi○’s “Futari no Natsu Monogatari”, I○ka’s “I Can’t Return to the Sea Anymore”, Nakahara Me○ko’s “Ro Lo Lo Russian Roulette”, Shirai Takashi’s “Foolosh War”) had to be cut. I didn’t get it. So it’s not a true complete reproduction, but everything else is there. A two-disc set that simultaneously runs from 1:00 to 5:00 on July 14, 1985, including studio talks, broadcasts, and commercials. Uses 8 beautiful standard recording VHS tapes provided by enthusiasts. The performance scenes of the 22 Japanese artists were unavoidably cut. Everything else is recorded from beginning to end. The second volume is a 2-disc set that includes footage from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM. Wembley Stadium, London, UK / JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, USA 13th July 1985 Disc 1(99:33) 1.
