Description
Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert, “BACK TO THE BEGINNING,” became a major event of the century. This four-disc set features professional shots of the entire stage. This work was, of course, filmed at the “July 5, 2025 Villa Park Performance.” It’s a multi-camera pro shot. The first two-disc set featuring four acts (BLACK SABBATH, Ozzy Osbourne, METALLICA, GUNS N’ ROSES) was a huge success, while the second two-disc set featuring the others (All-Star Band, SLAYER, PANTERA) will be released simultaneously. This four-disc set includes both the first and second parts. Please note that there is some overlap. The event featured 18 bands in a festival format, lasting approximately 9.5 hours. This four-disc set allows you to enjoy all of the stages in fully official, professional-grade footage. However, the structure is slightly different from chronological order, with each disc having its own unique concept. First, let’s take a look at how it’s structured. Disc 1: 8 early bands (digest) / Pantera / Slayer; Disc 2: All Stars / Jack Black / Drum-off / Backstage footage; Disc 3: Guns N’ Roses / Metallica; Disc 4: Ozzy Osbourne / Black Sabbath… The early bands (8 bands) each have a digest of one song, but the rest are included in their entirety. Let’s take a look at each section individually. Disc 1 (First Half) Cover Digest (8 Songs) This release kicks off with the eight bands who performed at the beginning of the event. Instead of every song performed, each band has a digest of one song. However, that one song is important. “Back to the Beginning” was originally intended to be “Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert,” and the performers were expected to cover Ozzy Osbourne’s solo and Sabbath classics. The songs selected here are those covers. The bands at the beginning of the show only had about 15 minutes to perform, and each cover was limited to one song at a time. In other words, this album contains “all of the Ozzy Osbourne/Sabbath covers.” DISC 1 (Part 2) PANTERA/SLAYER (4 + 6 songs) Next up is the rebooted PANTERA with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante, and the reunited SLAYER. While the pro shots of the rebooted PANTERA are a treasure in themselves, the guitar is by Zakk, Ozzy Osbourne’s right-hand man. The covers are like Zakk Sabbath with Phil Anselmo, and they were also an important band in the middle of the event. And then there’s SLAYER. Last year, they only had two shows, but this year they’ve expanded into a six-show mini-tour. This is another pro shot that metalheads around the world will be drooling over. DISC 2: All-Star Band (5 + 7 songs) Disc 2 features a lineup packed with super-stars. The four-part event included “ALL STARS,” led by Tom Morello, the event’s musical director; movie star Jack Black; and a special jam called “DRUM-OFF.” The main “ALL STARS” performance kicked off with a star-studded appearance by Jake E. Lee! Other performers included David Ellefson, Scott Ian, Nuno Bettencourt, and a new generation of Yungblud stars, both old and new. The second part was even more spectacular, with K.K. Downing, Billy Corgan, Papa V. Perpetua, and Sammy Hagar taking turns appearing. Enjoy a miraculous performance, including Sammy singing “Flying High Again.” The surprise guests were even more impressive, including Steven Tyler (!!) of AEROSMITH, who has since retired from touring, and Ron Wood (!!!). Steven’s powerful and sexy performance, in particular, was as strong and sexy as ever, making it hard to believe he’d retired from touring. This is an ultra-luxurious stage performance that exudes the special atmosphere of this historic event. DISC 2: Jack Black/Drum-Off (one song each) Recorded between the two parts of the All-Star Band performance, these two special acts, while serving as a palate cleanser, are truly one-of-a-kind. First up is Jack Black. He sings “Mr. Crowley” via video, not live, and even recreates the iconic “After Hours” song. Backed by Tom Morello’s son, Roman Morello, and Scott Ian’s son, Revel Ian, it’s a humorous performance that prioritizes humor, but perhaps a fitting tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, beloved not only by rock fans but the entertainment world at large. And then there’s the special unit “Drum-Off.” Three master drummers, Travis Barker, Chad Smith, and Danny Carey, engage in a spectacular drum battle based on “Symptom of the Universe.” DISC 2 (BONUS) Backstage Scenes. The finale of this album features backstage scenes. Numerous stars greet the king, Ozzy Osbourne, and rekindle old friendships. The scenes are even more spectacular than the actual stage performance, and are truly spectacular. DISC 3 (First Half) GUNS N’ ROSES (6 Songs) GUNS N’ ROSES finally make their entrance. This time, they performed in a special lineup, without keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Leeds. This was their first time performing as a five-piece in 35 years, since 1990. Even more special is the setlist. While every band at this event performed a variety of Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne covers, GUNS N’ ROSES only played four songs. And the selection is incredibly cool: “It’s Alright,” “Never Say Die,” “Junior’s Eyes,” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.” Axl has been singing “It’s Alright” for some time (the other three tracks were world premieres), and he was 14-16 years old when “TECHNICAL ECSTASY” and “NEVER SAY DIE” were released. It’s possible that he was a huge fan of these two albums. Disc 3 (Second Half) – Metallica Edition (6 songs) – Preceding Ozzy in a 35-minute set that even surpasses Guns N’ Roses, Metallica chose covers of “Hole in the Sky” and “Johnny Blade.” The former was their first performance in 16 years, since 2009, and the latter their world premiere. “Johnny Blade” in particular is not just a nerdy track; it’s played so seamlessly, it’s hard to believe it’s a first. The selection and arrangement are ingenious, making this a truly outstanding performance that truly showcases Metallica’s reputation as masters of covers. Disc 4 (first half) features Ozzy Osbourne’s first solo performance in six and a half years (5 songs). The final disc, Disc 4, features the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, whose final performance of the album was this one. This marks his return to live performances after a six-and-a-half-year hiatus (though he did make some event appearances during that time, but only performed a few songs with mime). While only six songs, this is the full set. Even though he’s still seated, Ozzy is still Ozzy. His sharp gaze is charismatic, and he effortlessly controls a crowd of approximately 40,000 with just his gestures. Standing beside him is his lifelong companion, Zakk Wylde. Mike Inez, from his “No More Tears” days, also makes a special return, adding luster to this memorable final performance. Disc 4 (second half) features his first original Black Sabbath performance in 20 years (4 songs). The finale is a highlight: Black Sabbath. Speaking of their final concert, the official album “THE END: LIVE IN BIRMINGHAM” comes to mind, but Tommy Clufetos was sitting on the stool at the time. Original member Bill Ward was absent. This time, Bill is in attendance. This is truly the revival of the original BLACK SABBATH. The last time the original four members gathered was in 2005. While it’s generally believed that their final performance at “OZZFEST 2005” on September 4, 2005, was their last, it was actually their final TV appearance afterward (which you can also enjoy in the pro-shot “THE LAST OF ORIGINAL 4”). Finally, Ozzy Osbourne has finally pulled the curtain on his stage career. This multi-camera pro-shot allows you to witness the Prince of Darkness’ final performance, a moment that left a huge mark on music history. This four-disc set condenses this historic, highly sought-after event, featuring lively cover performances by younger artists, a massive gathering of the scene’s most luxurious stars, a one-off, extremely rare cover performance by a major player, and the final performance by the king of Ozzy Osbourne.
