Description

A 90-minute special program titled “Rock Video Yearbook Hard Rock Trajectory” broadcast by a certain domestic satellite broadcaster in the early 1990s is recorded in the highest quality of air check footage at the time. It was originally planned and produced by CCTV in the UK in 1991, and laser discs and VHS video software were also released at the time, so many fans may have seen it. Unlike the official version, an intro by a famous Japanese businessman and director is inserted at the beginning. This album’s title (“Hard Rock Heaven”) is a play on the abbreviation of the British Crown Prince, “HRH” (His Royal Highness), and as the title suggests, it is a storm of hard rock, but it is not that, it is a song from the 1960s. There are videos of big bands from the 1970s to the 1970s lined up in a row, and even the average rock fan at our store can enjoy the content. I can kind of understand why Jimi Hendrix is classified as hard rock, but I think it’s because of the rough selection of foreigners that they put Cream, early Jeff Beck Groove, and even the Rolling Stones into the hard rock category. The lack of it is actually interesting. However, even though I’ve been focusing on “classic rock” up until now, I’ve somehow managed to mess around with Whitesnake’s Guilty Of Love (and Stockholm 84!! Sykes, Cozy, and Jon Lord!), the villainous Motörhead’s Ace Of Spades, and even more. The song “Motorgirl”, a collaboration between Motorhead and Girl School, is included, giving off a distinctly 80’s vibe among the relatively calm crowd. All the bands have one song each, but only AC/DC has two songs, Highway To Hell and Whole Lotta Rosie, but these two famous songs were recorded in the UK under the name “Hard Rock Heaven: The Best Of Hard Rock”. As a metal fan, I probably couldn’t ignore it. This is unthinkable in this day and age where you can easily watch anything on YouTube, but back then, classic rock promo collections like this were surprisingly useful, and official VHS software and laser discs were often available. It was available at record stores for a reasonable price. Please enjoy tonight’s very valuable Nippon Television broadcast version of “The Best of Hard Rock”, a uniquely British selection that will bring back fond memories of those times. (1:27:23) 1.
