Description
Vanilla Fudge started their career in 1966 and disbanded in 1970. Since then, they have reformed many times, and here is a precious live recording from their early days. The performance at the Baltimore Civic Center on February 16th, from their 1969 US tour, was recorded from an audience master that was considered to be in good condition for the time. Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice, one of the best rhythm ensembles in the rock world, would later gain attention in Cactus and BB&A, but this live performance from that time, which is also their roots, is extremely rare. At that time, the band’s performance, which was a Beck-loving band, was different from that of 1968, and the entire ensemble was thrown away, with a storm of dynamic improvisation, and Tim’s super-heavy bass was particularly overwhelming. In particular, Bogert & Appice’s solo improvisation towards the end of “You Keep Me Hanging On” and “Evil Woman Jam” feature improvisation involving Mark’s baroque organ and Vince’s guitar, and this style seems to be a guide for BB&A’s future. 01.
