Description

Edward Van Halen passed away on October 6, 2020. A revolutionary child of the guitar… no, a true pioneer who revolutionized the music “rock” itself, which mainly uses the guitar, has passed away. The news has shaken the world, and even at this moment, voices of celebration and mourning for his life continue to rise. Over the past few years, some great figure in rock history has passed away every year, but never before has I felt such a huge sense of loss. We have prepared a live album from 2013, Eddie’s last visit to Japan. It has been decided that two super masterpiece titles will be released at the same time, including the finest original recordings exclusive to this work. This work is the second installment. This is a superb audience recording of the “June 26, 2013: Osaka City Central Gymnasium” performance, which was the last Live in Japan of Eddie Van Halen’s life. Speaking of coming to Japan in 2013, in addition to Eddie’s official live album “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT”, which is also Eddie’s posthumous work, “A DEFINITIVE KIND OF OSAKA: DAY 1” was also released at the same time. In the commentary for “DAY 1,” we looked back at the entire history of their visit to Japan, but here we will focus on 2013 and organize the collection.・June 18: Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium ・June 21: Official “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT” ・June 24: “A DEFINITIVE KIND OF OSAKA: DAY 1” ・June 26: Osaka City Central Gymnasium ← ★This work★ There are 4 performances in total. Live in Japan has been held 44 times in 35 years since the first visit to Japan in 1978, but this Osaka performance was the last one. This work, which permanently missed the memorial show, is an audience recording that is worthy of being called “transcendent.” In fact, “DAY 1” and “DAY 2″, which will be released simultaneously this week, are not only released at the same venue, but also have the same recording artist. Moreover, the recording artist is not just a person, but the “strongest taper in Western Japan” who is familiar to us at our store. In fact, the sound is transcendent and perfect. The strength of the core, the luster without chatter, the beauty of the sound, the closeness of the distance… Anyway, even if I check every point with all my might, I can’t find anything to complain about. I could feel that perfection in “DAY 1”, but this work goes even further than that. In fact, it was said that the on-site PA was unstable on the first day of Osaka the previous day, but since the second day of this work in Osaka was at the same venue every day, the band and staff overcame the shortcomings and produced perfect sound. It has come true. “DAY 1” by Mr. Saikyo made me think, “What’s wrong with this?”, but when I listen to this work, “DAYS 2”, I realize, “Oh, I’m really improving!” . This feeling is similar to a remaster of the official album. The original sound wasn’t particularly strange, but I was surprised that it was even better. This work is a superb sound with such a sense of surprise. What is depicted with such surprising quality is Eddie Van Halen’s last Japanese performance. In fact, the set list is the same as “DAY 1” released at the same time, but since it is such a memorial show, let’s reorganize it for record purposes. Classics (19 songs + α) ・Flame Fuse: Runnin’ With The Devil/I’m the One/You Really Got Me/Ice Cream Man/Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love ・Legendary Bomber: Somebody Get Me A Doctor/Dance The Night Away/Women In Love/Beautiful Girls・Dark Law: Everybody Wants Some!!/And the Cradle Will Rock/Romeo Delight・Martial Law: Unchained/Hear About It Later・Diver Down: (Oh) Pretty Woman・1984: I’ll Wait/Hot For Teacher/Panama/Jump A Different Kind of Truth (3 songs)・She’s The Woman/Tattoo/China Town…and so on. To put it bluntly, it’s a style that omitted “Mean Street” from his posthumous work “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT,” but each song and each note carries the weight of “Japan’s last.” Moreover, it is not just a fact of the schedule, but also one of the best performances. According to the reputation at the time, “DAY 1” on the first day of Osaka was said to be the best performance, but this work the next day was also no less. In fact, when Dave’s short film was shown (unrelated to the performance), there was a mistake where the intro to “Jump” was played and I laughed bitterly…I guess that was the impression I made on the first day in Osaka. Maybe the military rank has gone up. In fact, when listening to this work, Dave’s condition is better than the first day “DAY 1”. It’s true that the performers seem to be giving in half a step, but rather than feeling like they’ve lost their enthusiasm, it feels like they’ve lost momentum in a few places, probably because they had too much energy on the last day when they didn’t have to worry about the next day’s conditions. On the contrary, the boldness of it is refreshing. In fact, Dave was in an even better mood and the Kansai dialect MC was also very sharp as he sang songs such as “Ookini Osaka”, “Sukiyanen Osaka”, “New Horimono”, etc. Seven years, three months, and 12 days after this show, Eddie Van Halen passed away. This work is a live album that allows you to experience his last souvenir at its best. Rather than never being able to see it again, I want to keep the memories of him actually coming to Japan in my heart.
