Description

The 5th and 6th performances from the 2012 “A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH TOUR”, held at Madison Square Garden in New York on February 28th and March 1st, are recorded with high-quality audience recordings. . Both can be said to be excellent documentary live albums that contain the atmosphere and enthusiasm that can only be found in a large venue. A complete turnaround from the previous day’s performance in Chicago, where they were plagued by microphone noise, and the first day of this MSG performance was a perfect live performance. You can feel the sound circulating in a huge venue, but the direct, punchy, gigantic sound is intense, and it actually has a unique echo feeling that gives you the special feeling of “listening to an MSG sound source”. It might be the best. Unlike Chicago, which has a strong bass sound, the drum and guitar sounds on this album stand out, and the overall balance is more ideal. On this day, Hear About It Later, which surprised fans when it was played at the Indianapolis performance, was set in Mean Street again. It will make the fans in New York crazy. Next is the MSG 2-day performance recorded on Discs 3 & 4. Unlike other performances, the sound gives a sense of distance and the reverberations of the venue, but the audience’s loud chorus is realistically recorded, making it the perfect piece to simulate a live performance, including the atmosphere inside the venue. The musical sounds are also well recorded, and if you are used to live recordings, you will immediately notice that this recording is actually quite excellent. (There are some parts where I feel that the voices of nearby audience members are annoying, but even with that, it’s a great documentary item.) The fun of the enthusiastic sound is the point, but above all, the focus is on this day. set list! In the 6th official tour, the opening song has been changed from You Really Got Me to Unchained. (You Really Got Me has been moved to the place of Unchained after the drum solo in the middle.) What is surprising is that in the position of Romeo Delight, “The Full Bug” was played as a replacement number for the first time since 1983! This song selection would have been the best gift for fans. Furthermore, in the second half, Outta Love Again, which had been suppressed since the first day at Louisville, was revived on the second day of MSG. In the case of consecutive performances at the same venue, it seems that a standard set and a set featuring rare songs like this one were prepared for the fans who came for two consecutive days. The last Jump, which is unusual for recent recordings. Although it fades out in the middle of the second half, this 4-disc set is a must-have for fans who can enjoy the New York MSG performance, one of the symbolic performances of the latest tour, with realistic and vivid sound.
