Description
The world is shocked by the completely unreleased soundboard series from the “DIVER DOWN” era. The latest installment is yet another new discovery! This work features the “July 30, 1982 Louisville performance.” This is the first stereo soundboard recording. The newly released masterpieces “BILOXI 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD” were highly acclaimed, and this work is their sequel. If the excavated route is the same, it is a sister work with similar quality and show content. Of course, because it is so close, the show’s position must be carefully confirmed. Let’s take a closer look at the activities at that time. 1982 (“DIVER DOWN” released on April 14th) July 14th – August 21st: North America #1 (26 performances) ←★COCO★ September 1st – 25th: North America #2 (17 performances) October 7th – December 11th: North America #3 (38 performances) ←TORONTO 1982, etc. 1983 January 16th – February 12th: South America (15 performances) ←※CARACAS 1983, etc. May 29th: US Festival Appearance This is the overall picture of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” accompanying “DIVER DOWN.” The newly excavated soundboard series is broadly divided into “North America #1” and “North America #3” editions, and this work is the former. The aforementioned “BILOXI 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD” are also records of the same leg, so let’s focus on the dates and check their relative positions. Details of “North America #1” ・July 14th-23rd (7 performances) *July 24th “BILOXI 1982” ・July 27th + 29th (2 performances) *July 30th: Louisville performance ←★This work★ *July 31st “FORT WAYNE 1982” ・August 3rd-21st (14 performances) … and so on. This Louisville performance is the 11th performance of the tour. It was the concert the day before “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD”. This show has long been known for audience recording, but of course this work is different. It is a completely first-time stereo soundboard recording. The quality is extremely thick and superb. Anyone who has experienced even one of the previous series can imagine, but it is a direct-connected mix system different from official and FM broadcasts, and unprocessed/unedited live performances flow out as they are. There were hardly any cheers at the height of their popularity, and only the sounds of the four musicians’ performances and vocals dominated the auditory experience. The mix balance was intensely raw, with no consideration for home audio. And above all, the sense of synchronization was intense. The panning, blown out to the left and right with incredible stereo width, created a sense of scale that felt like the inside of the brain had become a venue, and the instruments, microphones, and brain were connected, creating a truly otherworldly sensation. You’ll be immersed in the pleasure of your entire body perfectly matching the original VAN HALEN. While this is truly a transcendent soundboard, this work is also one of the more enthusiastic in the series. The recording time is particularly noteworthy. Apparently, only one 60-minute tape was used that day, with about 18 minutes missing from the start of the show, starting with “Jamie’s Cryin'” near the middle of the set. The tape also ends with “D.O.A.” about one minute in, meaning the final part is also missing. While this is disappointing, it offers an unexpectedly useful hint. Those who experienced “BILOXI 1982 SOUNDBOARD” were probably surprised by the unusual initial set, but after three performances, this work was already the standard set. There were no records of the two intervening performances, and this day was the “first standard set.” This work is also evidence of that sound. While the short recording time may not make it a masterpiece or a representative work, it’s not impossible to preserve such a transcendent soundboard forever. While “BILOXI 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD” are recommended as an entry point, this is also an absolute must-have for enthusiasts and completers. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “July 30, 1982 Louisville Performance.” This is a sequel by the same people behind the new masterpieces “BILOXI 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD,” and the sound, digitized directly from the original master, is once again ultra-thick. Although it’s incomplete at about 63 minutes, it will imprint in your mind the earliest live performance when the regular set of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” was completed.
