Description

The legendary “DIFFERENT LIVE OF TRUTH” series was a real-time report on the last world tour accompanying the studio’s posthumous work. The latest edition of the masterpiece series that has been reevaluated is now available. This series became a hot topic during the 2012 “A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH TOUR”, and the best masters of each performance were carefully selected from the recordings that appeared one after another. At the time, the experience of being on a tour in the United States that was out of reach was very popular, but now that VAN HALEN’s footsteps are being reconsidered, the excellent quality is once again attracting attention. We are delivering reprint releases, and this work is the 9th edition. Three performances are included, and it is a superb audience recording set of “April 16, 2012 Jacksonville Performance”, “April 21 Greensboro Performance”, and “April 27 Nashville Performance”. Around this time, “A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH TOUR” also entered the second part. First, let’s organize the collection by focusing on “North America #2.” ・January 5th – February 8th: Warm-up (3 performances) [“A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH” released on February 7th] ・February 18th – April 1st: North America #1 (19 performances)★ April 10th: Sunrise performance *“VIII (Disc 1-2)” April 12th: Orlando performance ★April 14th: Tampa performance* “VIII (Disc 3-4)” April 16th: Jacksonville Performances ←★This work DISC 1-2・April 19th: Atlanta performance April 21st: Greensboro performance ←★This work DISC 3-4★・April 25th: Charlotte performance April 27th: Nashville performance ←★DISC 5-6★・April 29th – June 26th: North America #2 (23 performances remaining) This is VAN HALEN in 2012. “A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH TOUR” continues the following year in 2013, and it will also be the last visit to Japan, but only the 2012 tour has been published here. In addition, most of the previous “DIFFERENT LIVE OF TRUTH” series has been reports on the early part “North America #1,” but now we are entering “North America #2,” which is a restart from the previous work “VIII.” Here we have arranged the schedule for the two works. The three performances of this work were the 4th, 6th, and 8th performances of such “North America #2”. This work, which records these three performances, is truly “excellent.” The series, which was almost all performances in the early days, has now become every other performance, but the reason is quality. In fact, because we carefully selected masterpiece recordings, the more we repeat the series, the more our expectations for the sound rise. By the time of this 9th installment, I was no longer satisfied with the highest level (this is a bit of a contradiction in terms). As a result, instead of collecting all the performances, we shifted to focusing on the outstanding sound quality. In fact, this work is a superb recording with a “super” rating that further blows away the high expectations. If we were to express it by type classification as before, it would be a super clear and dynamic type that suddenly started from the first “April 16th Jacksonville (DISC 1-2)”. The outpouring of enthusiasm is so vivid that you can declare, “It’s a guest record, there are complaints!”, but the essential performance sound and singing voice are perfect sound board level. Anyway, it’s super detailed with zero sense of distance. Everything is in close contact but neatly separated, and it feels more like “Did you overdub the cheers on the sound board?” Wolfgang’s bass is particularly strong. The rough core and thick yet sharp colors create a profound metallic feel… This is a rare and super famous recording that combines a high level of audio quality with a strong individuality. On the other hand, the one that is one step behind in this work is “April 21st Greensboro (DISC 3-4)”. This is a mood type with a thick hall sound. However, the core that runs through the middle of the atmosphere is powerful, and the sound is glossy and beautiful. Since it’s the 9th installment, I said things like “I’m falling behind,” but if it had been in the early stages of the series, I’m sure there would have been a big fuss saying, “Maybe it’s number one on the tour!” ). This is a beautiful recording that combines taste, beauty, and clarity. The fact that there is a depression in the middle also means that there is a strong rebound at the end. The third “April 27th Nashville (DISC 5-6)” is also an amazing recording that will blow you away!! This also has an amazing super direct feeling that goes on the so-called “soundboard”. As for the type, it is the same super clear and dynamic type as “Jacksonville (DISC 1-2)”, but this one has a thinner sound and tends to be clearer, but the overall balance is well-balanced. If “Jacksonville (DISC 1-2)” is a sound board grade, “Nashville (DISC 5-6)” can be said to be an official work grade. However, on the other hand, “Jacksonville (DISC 1-2)” may be better in terms of surprise level of super individuality…It is a super recording at a level where it is no longer possible to talk about its superiority or inferiority. The three full-show performances of “North America #2”, with well-developed ensembles and sets, are depicted with the sound of three different people. Let’s get acquainted with the set according to the series’ custom. Fixed songs (18 songs + α) ・Flame fuse: Runnin’ With The Devil/You Really Got Me/Ice Cream Man/Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love ・Legendary bomber: Somebody Get Me A Doctor/Dance The Night Away/Women In Love/Beautiful Girls・Dark Law: Everybody Wants Some!!・Martial Law: Unchained・Diver Down: (Oh) Pretty Woman・1984: I’ll Wait/Hot For Teacher/Panama/Jump・A・Different Kinds of Truth: She’s The Woman/Tattoo/China Town Daily Songs (6 songs)・Legendary Bomber: Outta Love Again (★: April 16 Jacksonville/April 21 Greensboro)・Dark Law: Romeo Delight ・Martial Law: Hear About It Later ・A Different Kind of Truth: The Trouble With Never (★) *: “★” indicates the official live album “TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT” Songs you can’t listen to. …and it looks like this. “A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH TOUR” is also known to have been a daily set, but it has become quite solidified as “North America #2”, and “Outta Love Again” has become somewhat rare. However, on the other hand, the skill and breathability of the players is amazing because they have become solidified. There was no feeling of fumbling or hesitation, and the performance was impregnable, with all the songs familiar to the body. Moreover, even though it is not used to it, it is supple and free. For example, in “She’s The Woman” of “Nashville (DISC 5-6)”, Dave is in a good mood and does spontaneous improvisation. Yes, this. This timing. Dave is the type of entertainer who makes the audience laugh and delight on the spot, rather than being perfect every night. While making the songs completely his own, he still enjoys playing with improvisations and never gets tired of it…it’s clear to see that he’s entered the sweet spot of a long tour. The superb sound quality exceeds the expectations of the accumulated series, and the show shows its true potential because of its increased skill. Although the rare songs are not very interesting, this is the 9th installment of the masterpiece series, where the musical level is higher than ever. This is a revival of a blockbuster that we can confidently recommend to both those who have been on the tour so far and those who are experiencing this work for the first time. 4/16 Jacksonville and 4/27 Nashville have amazing super high sound quality! !
