Description
U2 in the “WAR” era, who made a breakthrough and embarked on world domination with their first headliner tour. Two of their finest soundboard albums are now available on the highest peak master CD. This is the second of two simultaneous releases. “Glasgow performance on March 24, 1983”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of the “WAR” era, the official video “U2 LIVE AT RED ROCKS: UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY” reigns as a symbol, and the masterpiece soundboard “HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982” was also released at the same time. Let’s check what the position of this work is in the schedule at that time. 1982 (September-October “WAR” production) ・December 1-24: Europe #1 (20 performances) ←※HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982 1983 (February 28 “WAR” released) ・February 26-April 3: Europe #2 (29 performances) ←★Here★ ・April 23-June 29: North America (48 performances) ←※Video version UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY ・July 2-August 21: Europe #3 (5 performances) ・November 16-30: Hawaii/Japan (7 performances) This is U2 in the “WAR” era. The simultaneously released “HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982” was the “PRE-WAR Tour” before the album was released, and the official “UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY” was a record of the US tour. In contrast, the Glasgow performance of this work is in between. This was the 23rd concert of “Europe #2”. This show left a soundboard that only those in the know would know. That’s because it was broadcast on FM on the radio at the time, but the station was a local station in the west of Scotland called “RADIO CLYDE”. It was not broadcast nationwide in the UK, let alone in Japan or the US, and it was not a complete broadcast of the show. And the narrowness of the broadcast area directly translates to a small number of people recording, which makes it less likely that a good-sounding air check master will be left behind. Of course, since it’s an FM soundboard, it’s not super rare, but it didn’t even make it into a classic. However, even if the possibility was low, it wasn’t zero. Yes, this work is the highest peak board that was finally digitized directly from the “ultra-high-end master” that was excavated. Moreover, this newly excavated master is not available on the Internet or anywhere else. Our shop sometimes introduces masters carefully selected by overseas sound source researchers, such as David Bowie and Pink Floyd, but this work should be called the U2 version. Along with the simultaneous release of “HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982”, it is a permanent preservation of the best existing master. In fact, this is the best ever. The radio DJ at the beginning is a little unstable (a part that could not be heard in the conventionally known master), but that is only for a few seconds. By the time the performance begins, it stabilizes and the best sound that can be called “completely official class” is poured into the brain. Of course, the sound quality itself is the best ever, and the resolution of the bass is excellent compared to some of the conventional masters, and even if it is thick, it is not muddy or cloudy. It is true that such a wonderful master exists … It can also be said about the release “HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982”, but it seems to prove how much this researcher has a vast knowledge of sound sources, not in data or words, but in sound quality. Such a superb sound board depicts a show that is different from the official video “UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY”. Unfortunately, “RADIO CLYDE” has never broadcast the complete show, but it is still a music album that can be enjoyed for about 53 minutes, and there are some delicious and valuable songs. Let’s organize the set by comparing it with the official work and the sister work “HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982”. Irish October (5 songs) Gloria / I Threw A Brick Through A Window / I Fall Down (★) / October / Tomorrow (★*) WAR (fight) (4 songs) Seconds / New Year’s Day / Sunday Bloody Sunday / Two Hearts Beat As One (*) Others (4 songs + α) Boy: A Day Without Me / The Cry-The Electric Co. / Out of Control (*) Single: Party Girl (*) * Note: “★” marks are songs that could not be heard in the official video “UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY”. The songs marked with an asterisk (*) are not available on the soundboard album “HAMMERSMITH PALAIS 1982” released at the same time. … and so on. U2 also plays fragments of famous songs, which is also interesting on this day. “Send in the Clowns” inserted into “The Electric Co.” is a fairly standard song, but the Scottish folk song “Loch Lomond” is unique to Glasgow. At the time, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and Chubby Checker’s “Let’s Twist Again”, which were sweeping the world, were also staples of the “WAR Tour”. And the precious one is THE ALARM’s “Blaze Of Glory” which appears in “Out of Control”. Apart from this day, this is a very rare performance that has only been confirmed on the “INNOCENCE + EXPERIENCE Tour” 32 years later. In 1983, the single “New Year’s Day”, released about two months before this work, reached the 10th place in the US, and the scale of their activities grew significantly. This is a masterpiece of a soundboard album that will let you hear the passionate performances of that era directly in your brain. A permanent preservation of the highest peak master treasured by researchers. Stereo soundboard recording of the “Glasgow performance on March 24, 1983”. This is the highest peak board that was directly digitized from the highest level master supervised by an overseas U2 researcher, and the sound is “completely official grade”. Unfortunately, the complete form of the show was not broadcast, but you can enjoy the delicious show with the best sound, including “I Fall Down”, which cannot be heard in the official video “UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY”, and “Out of Control”, which also includes the extremely rare “Blaze Of Glory” by THE ALARM.
