Description

The Japan performance of “THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR” will go down in history. The best original recording is now available. Complete live performance of the famous album that conquered the world in 1987. That opportunity has only happened twice in Japan. This work includes the first of these, “December 4, 2019: Saitama Super Arena performance.” This is the best audience recording. At our store, we have already introduced the 2-day complete album “SAITAMA SUPER ARENA 2019”, but this work is of course a completely separate recording. This is also an original master for this work that was handed down by the recording artist himself. [Great recording made from the front standing seats] The quality is truly overwhelming. The best thing about it is the clear, transparent air and strong core. The Uxbridge version was wonderful enough, but this work has a slightly different dimension. The treble extends beautifully until the moment it is sucked into the void, the midrange is so responsive that you can feel its mass, and the deep bass, which tends to be sparse in large venue audiences, is also full of density. Although there is some audience-like sound in the reverberating vocals, it strangely does not feel cloudy or muddy, adding exquisite spectacle and depth. The outline of each note shines sharply, but the sound is not harsh and painful to the ears, but has a glossy shine. The wonderful three-dimensional feeling that emerges from this clarity. The wide range gives each phrase and rhythm a three-dimensional feel, and the good separation creates an immersive feeling of being surrounded from all sides. Moreover, the excitement of the audience also plays a role. The balance is such that the sound of the performance is right in front of you, while the gigantic screams and chorus are far away, approaching from behind. The reason for this is probably the position. This work was recorded in the front standing area, and while the sound of the PA is directly picked up, the loud cheers only approach small from a distance. In the 4-disc set, the audience’s singing voice sometimes got in the way depending on the song, but this work has almost no such problem, and yet the spectacle is even bigger. It is a famous recording that perfectly combines U2’s melody and sense of scale. What is depicted with such sound is the show of the century centered on the complete reproduction of “THE JOSHUA TREE”. I have explained the set before, but since it will be seen by many people, I would like to introduce it again here. [Main set (80’s)] ● Opening: Sunday Bloody Sunday ● Before album reproduction (4 songs)・BOY: I Will Follow (first day only)・WAR: New Year’s Day・THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE: Bad/Pride (In The Name Of Love) ●Album reproduction (11 songs): All THE JOSHUA TREE songs ●After album reproduction (1 song)・RATTLE AND HUM: Angel Of Harlem (first day only) [Encore (from the 90s: 8 songs)]・ACHTUNG BABY: Even Better Than The Real Thing/Ultraviolet (Light My Way)/One・ALL THAT YOU CAN’T LEAVE BEHIND: Elevation/Beautiful Day ・HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB: Vertigo・SONGS OF INNOCENCE: Every Breaking Wave (first day only)・SONGS OF EXPERIENCE: Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way…and it goes like this. The highlight of the main set is the reproduction of the album, but the before and after are also important points. At first glance, it may seem random, but it’s not. After opening with the fixed opening “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, the initial numbers are arranged in chronological order as “BOY” → “WAR” → “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE”, digesting the steps leading up to “THE JOSHUA TREE”. Then, even after reproducing the entire album, “Angel Of Harlem” from “RATTLE AND HUM” is inserted and the highlight is reached. The chronology is strictly followed here as well, and the entire main set is used to express “U2 in the 80’s.” “THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR” was held in 2017, the 30th anniversary of the album, and the main set ended with “Mothers of the Disappeared,” but the 2019 edition is even more exciting. By adding some innovations, we were able to balance the flow of the live performance with conceptual perfection. And the encore was “Later U2”. With “ACHTUNG BABY” as the driving force, they will perform famous songs from the 2000s and 2010s in a regular style that is free from chronological order. The mood is really encore-like, and at the same time it is a show that makes you feel the nostalgia of U2, which has always continued to write good billions. “THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR” of the century not only reproduces the famous albums that conquered the earth, but also conceptually expresses the entire golden era of the 80s. This is a live album where you can fully experience the Japanese scene with the best sound. This work is (probably) the pinnacle of the Japanese performance, but it is actually not the only one. The gigantic scale of U2 is also known as a band that is difficult to record for an audience, and recordings of this caliber are rare worldwide. Japan’s treasure that boasts to the world.
